Experimental Dynamically-Generated Stickers License Plate Mod 1.5

Makes for the most realistic plates in BeamNG.drive!

Have you ever wished in-game license plates were more realistic?
Isn't it odd that none of the in-game traffic AI cars have plates with expiration tags, or that, if there are expiration tags, that they never change, perpetually remaining static no matter what?
Do you wish you could spawn traffic cars, each with their own realistic, individually unique license plate - in place of the boring, same-old default plate - to better replicate the experience of driving in real life, especially in these times where you can barely do even that anymore?

    Well, worry no longer!

This mod (currently in beta stage) adds what are probably THE MOST realistic license plates available yet for BeamNG! "How tho!?" you may ask. Great question! I have all the answers:

    • High-quality plate backgrounds identical to their real-life counterparts
    • Custom HD fonts and clean editing
    • I took a really long time to make sure everything was centered/aligned perfectly
    • Proper plate number generation based on the Wikipedia articles for each state's plate so that you're virtually guaranteed to get plate numbers that were actually issued!
But...that's not the meat of it - the real mod here is found within the stickers each plate has - just like plate numbers generated by the game, each car that spawns with the plate will have an expiration sticker bearing either this year or next on it, which also has a randomized serial number! The possibilities and combinations thereof change each time you refresh the plate number!

Now with actually accurate replica Nevada stickers!

    *real plates for comparison:

Aaaaand, as an added treat, the California plates become default for all cars spawned on the Los Injuros map, and the same applies for the Nevada Plate with the Nevada Interstate map - most importantly, this includes all vehicles spawned via the traffic app!!!

Currently, I've done this sticker mod for those two plates, but what's important is that these stickers could be made to work on ANY plate! The only thing I've yet to figure out is how to change the colors and positioning (lots of states issue plates with only white stickers and/or stickers on the bottom right and not the top right, like the Vermont Antique Plate I own), but I'll be looking into how to code within HTML in the coming weeks to try and figure that out.

I take requests - please, let me know if you have any and I'll try to make them happen, if possible!

Also, please PM me if you have any issues before jumping to leaving a bad review, and if you like the mod, I would really really appreciate you if you leave a good review!

"So...why is this in the 'mods of mods' section?"
The plates themselves - namely their background image decals - as well as the fonts, are the work of MrAngry from his California Plate Mod and osyu46's Nevada plate from GoogleFluff's American License Plate Pack, respectively. In that regard, all I did was make some minor edits such as updating the Nevada Plate Font to that of the more recently-issued version of that plate, and better center text + clean up MrAngry's already-spectacularly-made California Plate and Font. I then decided to apply the dynamic sticker generator from BeamNG's California plate to MrAngry's, and then modify it for use with osyu46's Nevada plate, and also make them default for the Los Injuros and Nevada Interstate maps because I hated playing on them with traffic cars which all had the ugly default plate.

Full credit and my big thanks goes to the original authors of the mods I modified, which you should totally check out because they are very good on their own!

This is a great addition to the game! It would be awesome to see Ohio plates, but it's sort of low priority as there aren't any Ohio maps.

Hey, thanks for the good review! Let me guess - Ohio is your home state? If you could just send me very nice high-quality pictures of your stickers or something like that, then I wouldn't mind giving it a shot - based on Google Images results, it'd certainly be a good challenge for me - all for the better, though! It's just that I can't find any pictures or info about what the current and last year registration stickers look like, and I want to make it as accurate as possible, if it is possible at all, so that I can avoid bad reviews stemming from inaccuracies on my end.

Anyway, I'd love to take your request! Please PM me if you can about it, and we can definitely work something out!

Amazing mod, maybe you could take a look at European license plate aswell :)

Thanks for the good review! I wouldn't mind, but I have no idea how European plate stickers look (in fact, I didn't know they had any at all up until now, just because you asked met this!) or if I can even make them because I imagine they're quite different from US stickers. Please, PM me and we can work this out - whatever you want!

This is just so awesome! As a guy that likes to drive around with traffic on, this makes the drive more realistic. We all like small details here.

Thanks for the good review! I started this mod because I hate it when I spawn traffic and all they have is default plates (because if you change the plates manually, the game treats each car like your car config and doesn't do the changing colors thingy.) because the map maker didn't give his or her map a default plate. Also, the stickers on the game's default Cali plate inspired me a lot too!

I'm going to post an updated Nevada plate sticker that looks MUCH closer to the real thing (thanks to another reviewer's very nicely written request down below), so please check back for updates whenever you can, if you'd like!

By the way, I also take requests!

That's not how Nevada year tags look tho...

Hello, thank you for your blunt and honest feedback - it's prompted me to work hard to fix the Nevada tags, so now they look damn near exactly the same as the real ones! If you could pretty please change your review after seeing for yourself in-game or in the pics above, that would be very kind of you! Thanks in advance!

Pretty amazing. Would love to see it on more plates of course, like my home state Missouri for example. Hopefully we'll be able to get all 50 states.

Will this be available on vanilla plates too?

      Author's Response
Thanks for the good review! I'm not exactly sure which of the vanilla plates come from states which use stickers, and I've yet to figure out how to change the colors of the stickers, so it might definitely take some time. BUT, if you don't mind keeping the same sticker colors (i can remove the month sticker and change the state abbreviation), please PM me and I can work something out very quickly for almost any plate you might want!

It's small details like this that hardcore BeamNG fans love. I know it's only a small detail, but also I know how long it takes putting these things together, so thank you and well done. Great addition to the game.

Very unique mod, but could you do a Maryland/Pennsylvania plate mod?
    1. Derp_de_Herp
      Author's Response
Thanks for the good review! I don't think Pennsylvania uses stickers anymore, but with some time I can certainly try to figure out how to do it with Maryland plates once I figure out a) how to change the months to numbers and b) how to make the expiration sticker white!
