ETK once planned to create an I-Series with a unique facelift for Japan, South Korea, and China to boost sales of its luxury sedans.
The plan was to change the basic parts to look significantly different from German cars to increase sales in other countries.
Considering luxury, reliability, and cost, the engines were Ibishu-made 2.0L I4 units. The base models were gasoline-powered, with LPG engines developed specifically for taxi use. Although not actually installed in the models sold due to perceived lack of luxury, diesel engines were also part of the plan. (ETK was satisfied with the diesel's performance, so they sold it separately as a compatible part)
