Beta Gavril EV Pack 0.20

Electric drivetrain options for your favorite van & pickup truck

    Lore:

During the early 1990s, Gavril decided to experiment with their current lineup. Motivated by the rise of environmentally friendly movements, they began exploring various drivetrain options. With the assistance of KEVee, a startup specializing in electric powertrains and energy storage, they were soon able to release the Gavril EV Lineup.

The first generation featured an induction motor in place of the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE). This was powered by 3.5 kWh lead-acid batteries supplied by KEVee. The public praised this variant for its reduced environmental impact and the instant torque, which was revolutionary for its time.

Gavril immediately recognized the positive reception and decided to continue developing the EV Lineup in collaboration with KEVee. They quickly released an updated "high" refresh for the EV lineup.

Customer feedback became Gavril's top priority. They first engineered an entirely new motor: the brushless direct current (BLDC) motor. This upgrade significantly improved efficiency and power compared to the previous generation. To complement the new motor, KEVee developed nickel-metal hydride batteries, providing a more reliable driving experience.

Surveys revealed that drivers of the previous generation often feared running out of power. To address this "range anxiety," Gavril introduced a range extender front battery pack, paired with the standard rear battery pack.

The EV Lineup also featured an updated front grille and body-colored accents to set it apart from the standard lineup.

The update was an instant success, and the EV Lineup became one of the best selection of vehicles in the world. Gavril’s early investments paid off exceptionally well, motivating the company to maintain its competitive edge.

To solidify their leadership in the market, Gavril doubled down on EV development and expanded their range significantly. Around the early 2010's, they introduced the overhauled third-generation of the EV Lineup.

    Gavril and KEVee really
ahead and beyond with this iteration. Instead of the traditional longitudinal layout, they opted for a transverse layout, enabling the use of the front and/or rear axle to power the wheels. This innovative approach opened up new possibilities for drivetrain configurations.

Three new motors were engineered for this generation: an updated brushless DC motor from the previous generation, a brand-new permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), and a brand new, cutting-edge induction motor.

Gavril also introduced a new badging scheme to identify models. The "EV" designation was followed by a number indicating the power class, ranging from the modest EV300 to the robust EV500. The letter "F" signified that the motor was located on the front axle instead of the rear, providing a more compact footprint ideal for upfits. The "²" badge indicated dual motors, with one powering the front axle and the other the rear.

Not content with stopping there, Gavril and KEVee pushed boundaries even further, developing high-performance variants. The EV600 delivered impressive power, while the jaw-dropping EV600² boasted an astonishing 1,067 horsepower.

The range extender option was retained to alleviate customers' concerns about range anxiety. Visually, the vehicle received a refreshed design, featuring a unique grille and body-colored accents for a more modern and distinctive appearance.'

Great to hear you like it! I'm indeed working on more configs and the D-Series EV. Unfortunately, progress is slow as I'm quite busy at the moment with my job.

Not enough low-end, some kind of 2-speed box or tweaking the final drive may help?

I intentionally made the low end slow to give the impression that the technology wasn't fully optimized yet. A dual-speed gearbox was also an idea I had in mind. It will likely be included in the next update.

Indeed, that’s why I decided to create this mod in the first place. I play career mode a lot and wanted to do an electric-only playthrough, then I noticed the lack of EV vehicles and I couldn’t progress with the delivery missions.
