The Haiku HY-90 first appeared in 2002 as Haiku’s earnest attempt to explore what the next era of automotive design might look like. For its time, the inclusion of active aerodynamics was almost unreal, considering most manufacturers were only toying with the idea in experimental settings. Production was scheduled for October 2003, but the project was eventually cancelled when the company couldn’t sustain the financial load.

Even so, the HY-90 didn’t just disappear into a folder of forgotten concepts. The ideas tested in this prototype gradually shaped the design philosophy of later Haiku models, leaving a lasting influence on the brand’s clean and restrained approach to modern engineering.
