Ive been waiting for tyre wear for YEARS and im absolutely head over heels for this mod, but it breaks my game by causing the Loading UI part of the main loading screen to load indefinitely which I suspect is caused by ALT + F4ing with the modded UI model added to my HUD. If this could be fixed asap it'd be THE most important mod on the entire repo to install.

Superior addon Luuk. I have a question. Can we disable Thermals in my BeamMP server? We only want the tyre wear enabled.
Keep up the great work!-

thanks! at the moment, they are fairly stuck together, and i dont really have plans to make a version with just wear. perhaps if more requests come in, ill make it a reality :)

tyres overheat while driving at a fast pace on the street and wear too quickly compared to irl

i agree, an update is in the works :)

This mod is such a needed and amazing mod! The effects of it are clear and show when the tire wear starts to kick in. I know you mentioned how it tyres will have extra cooling from wet surfaces, but I was wondering if you were also going to add a way for the tire thermals to be affected based on it's environmental temperature. Would love to see that being implemented! Other than that this mod again is really amazing and I am so happy we get to have it now.
-
Author's Response
Thanks!! Environmental temps will definitely be used at some point, I only hardcoded them right now to avoid issues with modded maps with weird temperatures and so I can always expect the same results while testing :)
Once the mod is better set up, and I'm happy with its behaviour, I'll support environmental temps :)

Granted the mod is in alpha stages, but just knowing that wear and thermals are in the game add a **huge** amount of fun and immersion. Can't wait to see where this goes!

The tires wear out pretty well but he could make the tires deflate when it reaches by using a flatten tire script similar to the fun stuff option.

Yes, it's coming :)

This overhauls the racing feel of the game but as of current there are a couple problems that seem more of a pet peeve as such.
1.The tires cannot be warmed via 'weaving' which is used in racing to warm tires.
2.The tires as mentioned a lot, do cool quite quickly. I noticed after a couple laps of the automation track that tires would cool to a point that wasn't optimal and could only really heat them back up by deliberately drifting corners or doing burnouts.
All in all this mod is awesome and can definitely say it is a gamechanger and with a couple more updates will be in my opinion the must-have for Beamng and alongside the drafting mod, gives a chance to make this game on the level of Assetto Corsa, rFactor, etc-
Author's Response
yeah i agree that theres a couple of problems left. im personally not quite happy with the mod yet, and im putting a good amount of effort into getting it right so hopefully a big update will fix most issues soon. glad you still enjoyed it!

Great mod idea, really needed, and I am excited to watch it get carved into a finer point. Imo as of now, seems the tires get a bit too cool too quickly, but I'm sure once everything is dialed in it'll be a necessity.

Like the best mod on the repo at this moment, not sure if its possible but are you able to edit the stock beamng "punctured" tyre, which looks like someone ate a bit of the tyre to something more realistic like that it just drops down a bit and no pressure and grip.

Author's Response
Thanks! Im not sure if I could, I kind of doubt it tbh. If I can, I'd love to though!

I absolutely love this mod, and I can't wait to have the ability to have the tires actually burst from burnouts or just driving on them too long.
I spent a good couple hours driving both a modified Covet and Ibishu Signia with race tires, but low-mid power, as kind of an amateur race car around the BeamMP Tri-Oval and Infield track. One thing I found is that even at full racing speed, I kept losing temperatures in the tires from the long straights and high-speed gentle curves. By my third or fourth lap, the tires were completely cold, not going much warmer than 38 degrees C, and no matter what I did, I could not get heat back into them. It feels to me at the moment that there's not enough friction when you're driving straight to counteract the cooling effect of the tires rotating through the air, which isn't true in reality. It seems, the only way I can maintain any heat in the tires is to slide the car everywhere.
Heat issue aside, like I said, I spent a couple hours driving low-powered race cars around a circuit to experience the full range of wear on the tires, and I love it. You say that the grip level reduction from tire wear is too aggressive, honestly, I disagree. If you wear a tire down to it's belts, you're going to expect the car not to grip at all. I had no real issues with controlling the car until I got down to about 5% wear, and in racing, you would have replaced the tires long before them.
This is a great mod as it is, and I look forward to seeing where it goes in the future. If this heat issue that I mentioned is addressed, then this will be, in my opinion a perfect mod, and will earn a full 5 stars from me. Until then, have 4.-

It seems like my fix in v0.4 has made tyres cool a bit more than expected, but I'm already working on it :)
For the tyre wear, my problem is that currently the tyres at 80% wear have too little grip, so I'd like for the first 20% or so to be less aggressive, and for it to then start falling off a little quicker, but it's fairly difficult to get it just right where on most cars it feels good.
It's fantastic to hear that you are enjoying the mod a lot, I really appreciate the kind words <3

An extremely necessary thing for BeamNG. Especially for racing.
I'm really looking forward to updates that will make this one even more correct. Now the cars seem to have just become harder to turn, both at low temperature and at medium temperature. Oversteer does not appear on superheated tires, and the car just starts turning worse.
When this is fixed, this is definitely one of the coolest mods for BeamNG!-
Author's Response
thanks! this mod is still a heavy WIP, but im not doing anything specific to induce understeer or oversteer. its just simulating thermals and wear to the best of my ability, and reduces grip of the tyre based on that, so it might just be the way that tune interacts with it all at the moment. but v0.3 is quite buggy regardless, hopefully with v0.4 (which should get approved today) itll be even better
