The Mitsufuji STO is a forgotten champion of 90s Motorsports. Released in 1994, the STO was intended to offer a sports car experience on a family sedan budget. But the engineers at Mitsufuji dreamed for more. The result was one of the best handling Front-wheel-drive vehicles of the decade and in 1994, it was award Car of the Year. The car was available in 3 trim levels. At the bottom was the GS, which featured a peppy inline-4 and all-season tires. In the middle was the GR, which stepped up to a 200hp V6 and improved tires. At the top was the GXP, which retained the V6, but added revised suspension geometry and new aero parts. All were available with Manual or Automatic gearboxes.

The STO was facelifted for the 1997 model year, which mainly changed the front of the vehicle. A larger intake and revised chin gave updated performance and improved style. 1997 also saw the emergence of the coveted Version R package. Available only to GXP buyers, the Version R was a factory-tuned 280HP track star. It added twin turbos to the V6, added advanced suspension, and aggressive aero parts.

By 1998, the STO had found some success and in an effort to increase publicity, Mitsufuji entered the JGTC with a track-tuned STO. The car performed well, but did not win any races. The car was eventually forgotten to time when it was discontinued in 2000.
