Nautica LMPX 2020 1.0

A race car for open roads

    Hi everyone :)

Today, I present you the Nautica LMPX, a race car, designed to be used on an open road!

The design of this car is quite simple, there is no need for a lot of picture in my opinion :p

This car is my answer to a challenge from @Daaxoo: built the fastest car for the 82km time trial of the American Road map. The rules are simple:
    1. The budget for the car can’t exceed $100k: check.
    2. The car has to have a competitiveness over 100 in 4 categories: check.
    3. The fuel consumption needs to be low enough to complete the time trial: check.
    4. All sort Jbeam modifications are forbidden, except the fixation of detachable fixtures: check.
    5. The use of a steering wheel as a controller is forbidden:check.

To answer to this challenge, full of high-speed sections, I have chosen to go with a big engine, producing a maximum amount of torque. The final result was a 8L bi-turbo V16 with the following torque curve:

Not all the chassis can fit such a big engine, especially in a mid-longitudinal position, with an AWD transmission. So, I had to use the chassis of an LMP1. Because of the chassis type, and of the torque produced by the V16, I was able to go with extreme aero settings. As a result, this car has a really good acceleration, a really good grip, and an amazing handling over 100kph.

Since the roads of the time trial are bumpy, I choose to go with rally-oriented suspensions tuning.

Finally, I have installed big, powerful and reliable brakes to complete this car.

But this design has a downside: according to BeamNG, the LMPX weights 1870kg. This car suffers from a serious lack of agility, and it’s extremely hard to make it turn properly at low speed without the help of the handbrake. The mountain section of the time trial is a real difficulty for the LMPX.

So, is this car fast enough to be a correct contender for the challenge? The answer is: yes, absolutely! With a time of 28min 12sec 404, the LMPX is the current record holder!

I hope you will have some fun with this car!
And, like always, feel free to send me your feedbacks :)

Really good time. However, I was able to do 26 minutes and 55 seconds on F17 in the discussion of the American Road map.

      Thanks!

About the FR17, it definitely does not follow the rules of the challenge, so I am not sure you can compare those 2 cars to be honest ;)
