Beta Polski Lvxo 126 Sport 1.2

Cheap & tuned Fiat 126 P

  1. acerimmer89
1973-1981 Polski Lvxo 126 PL / Polski Labarth

    Additional note #1:
This car was made on submitted request. It's actually visually based on early Fiat 126 / Fiat 126 P and mechanically it's car on its own, heavily influenced by Fiat 850.
Additional note #2: I did a lot of effort to put 1000cc inliner-3 in the rear back of the car. The car handles very well, but sometimes is unresponsive at cornering...but hey it's Polski, or as we call here "The Iron".

    The Story:
In the early 1970s Polish Socialist Republic wanted to develop its own "people car" for mass producing. But, all efforts from the 1950s and 1960s were failures, because the tooling wasn't intended for mass production, and the cars produced (Krakowia and Ariella) were based on heavily outdated 1940s Soviet designs and mechanics. These cars were produced in very small scales - up to 250,000 cars until 1973 and Poland was one of less-motorized European countries. The Communist Party had dilemma of developing the original (but outdated) models or to acquire the foreign license.
So, in 1973 the license for Lvxo 126 was acquired. Italian maker provided also the tooling and engines for first couple of years, and car was perfect match because of its simple design, decent fuel economy and small wheelbase - all what party elders needed for quick motorization of the country.
The car was powered by simple 650cc and later 850cc inliner-2 (ingame: inliner-3) and could reach up to 105 km/h, but acceleration was slow as snail. Its engine had relied on very cheap leaded gasoline and emitted a huge smoke through exhaust, but it was actually success in Poland and most Warsaw Pact countries. Also it was exported to many Soviet allies through Africa and Asia, and many of them were exported into Cuba where the car had a nickname "El Pollaco".
Italian model ceased its production in the 1978 (1,000,000 units), but until 2003 various improvisations were carried in Poland. First, the chrome parts were replaced with plastic ones, the interior was simplified, the more crude molds were used and design was stripped from unneccessary parts decade by decade until the 2003. From 1973 to 2003 around 3 million units were made.
In Balkan countries such as Croatia or Serbia it was nicknamed "pegla" or "the Iron" because of its distinctive design.

    The fictive story:

In the 1973 the more sporty version was also included and nicknamed "Polski Labarth" because of its small, 1000cc inline-3 overpowered engine, rear-engine mount and overclocked acceleration. The car had simple body kit and accented edges around the wheels, and it was only difference between stock and sporty model. 105 km/h was increased up to 124 km/h, and some mechanics were borrowed from outdated Lvxo 850 model. Only small number of cars were made for cheap rallies, and then they were painted into stock Lvxo colours.

    Version: 1.2
    nice lore
fun fact in 1978 the polish constructor made prototype OHC head for 650cc engine which nearly doubled the original horsepower raiting, so IRL we could have sporty 126p
