Switch any map between left-hand and right-hand traffic with one click. Live, while you drive. No restart, no map editing.

Ever wanted to drive Japanese-style on West Coast USA, or bring American traffic to a UK-style map? Drive Side Swap adds one small button to your HUD. Click it, and every AI car on the map switches to the other side of the road.

LHD = traffic drives on the right (USA, most of Europe)
RHD = traffic drives on the left (UK, Japan, Australia, India)

How to use

1. Install the mod (subscribe, or drop the zip into your mods folder).
2. Load any map, open the UI Apps menu and add Drive Side Swap (under Utility).
3. Click the round button. It shows the current side: LHD or RHD.

That's it. The little dot on the corner of the button minimizes it when you don't need it.

What changes

• Which side of the road AI traffic drives on
• Lane choice and which side AI cars overtake on
• Right-of-way at junctions and stop signs
• Police "wrong side of the road" detection follows the new side too

Good to know

• Traffic restarts when you click: cars are removed and respawn around you, already on the new side. Parked cars and police come back too.
• The game may pause for a moment while the map's AI roads are rebuilt (usually less than a second).
• Only the traffic changes. The painted lines on the road stay the same.
• Nothing is saved to the map files. Leave the map (or click again) and it goes back to the map's normal side.
• Works on any map that has AI traffic roads, including modded maps.

How it works (for the curious)
Every BeamNG map has a driving-side setting in its info.json ("roadRules" → "rightHandDrive"). The game reads it when it builds the map's AI road network, and uses it to set the direction of every lane. Drive Side Swap changes that setting in memory, rebuilds the AI road network the same way the game does when a map loads, and restarts traffic with the game's own tools.
