Thanks! You've come to the right place then, if you scroll down until the 'More Resources from...' panel shows on the left bottom of the screen, you'll see some other maps available with over (combined) 300+ more miles of roadway to choose from (if not over 350 miles combined), on the three other maps. So if long driving sessions are your call, entirely take a look at my other resources.
      -Cheers!

Well, do have a ball on this, then. We always welcome locals!
There's also a large sampling of the road network from the Kingston-Harriman-Rockwood area of Roane County along route 40 west of Knoxville by about 30 minutes, it's called 'Roane County'. Do check it out (it's not as intricately detailed but if you have a good recent PC with good GPU and good amount of RAM you'll enjoy a good speed through it).
-Putting TN (and even NC) on the map!

I am still trying to get a solid video, but it seems others beat me to the punch!

What a map! So many turns to memorize that my head is spinning by the time I am through.

Great work - keep it up!

As far as suggestions go, road-signs (which I presume are an eventuality).

It'd let me know what kind of road conditions are coming up without taking my eye off the road to check the map.
    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
Road signs will be in 'eventually'. I have the ones from RedRoosterFarm I am going to put in, since he was kind enough to make them for me, and I've got an army of customize-able signs I can add in, too. They will get in one day! There's over 300 turns so I can't promise I can warn for them all, just try not going 100, or set the AI up as a lead vehicle and to stay in lane and follow them (they should stay on the road pretty well, that I did test).
Make a video when you get the chance, no time-limit or deadline here. Whatever, whenever, it's all good. Just have a good time while your doing it in the mean-time. This map was meant to bring fun, not work & worry - that's my department. Glad you had a good one.
I must now get back to doing details on Roane County. It's finally getting populated!

Thank-you for your review, glad you enjoyed it so much. I am trying to make my maps more video-worthy by adding the appropriate amount of detail and accuracy. I seem to be able to create a scene pretty well now, especially due to having all the materials I need. I don't have world machine yet, but I managed to make a pretty decent map even without it. It does use real terrain so enjoy a recreation of the real thing in a much safer environment where you won't accidentally turn into hamburger while having a good time.
Thank-you for the review and for going out of your way to do a video. I will add it to the description page as soon as I have a chance to take a break from editing and to preview it. --Cheers

It's like the road I live on, constant terrain changes and endless corners, as back when it was made the workers where paid based on how much ashphalt was poured, not how much distance the road covered, so, naturally, they made the worst road design ever, great view though

"Worst road design ever, great view though"
--Perfectly sums up this road, got a good chuckle out of that last bit there, made me laugh despite serious back pain right now, Thanks.
However, that being said, it's definitely 5-star material if you want to drive around plenty of corners and not run out (running out of road is like game over!). I've tried to make this as realistic as possible to the real thing and even used an overlay to get the road down right. The road's grade I did by eye, hopefully it's nothing too drastically off (though the real road is only 2 hours away, I'm in mid-Tennessee, should I need to check again). Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the honest review. There will most surely be more of these maps in the future.

You are far from alone my friend! Even I was shocked at how well received this was. There shall definitely be more like this once I get done working on some more stuff in Roane County Tennessee map, and get some work done up on my city map (they're running side-by-side for progress, as they share a lot of resources/models).
I have 22~23 years of stuff I wanted to make for racing games (since I got my 1st pc, used, in 1994), and am now able to with Beamng!

Absolutly amazing, its nice to take a slow drive around it and feels very realistic, as im from england alot of country roads are not flat and are often un maintained so this feels very nice. The little details of the undergrowth makes the map feel very realistic and just overall well done! i will definatly be using this map a lot!

Yes, this route will make European drivers feel right at home with it's constant turns and curvy narrow roadway. Definitely don't want to try taking a lorry down this route unless you enjoy suffering, a lot. Glad you enjoy it, as that's plenty thanks enough!

That thanks and your enjoyment and good time you have is thanks enough. Always stay tuned to see what's around the corner (no pun intended), for my next mapping projects. I try to put the most quality VS time/effort it takes, while still providing a map that's playable on current hardware. Sure it should look good, but it's got to be fun before I put my name on it.

Whoever thought this was an acceptable design for a public road was insane.

    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
The North Carolina folks call this "That damn road to Tennessee" for a reason, you know. The Tennessee side isn't even maintained too much in the winter-time (snow removal, etc), because it's quite dangerous to do so.
Chances are this road's been here for a very long time, and much predates the Eisenhower Administration's highway projects, which set many a standard for roadways local and interstate alike. We have quite a countless number of roads like this in the more rural parts of Tennessee, especially going on or off the big plateau of sandstone my town's in. No guide rails, no shoulder, if you text while behind the wheel, and drive 2 feet off the road you're DONE. Want a free cell phone? Why, hike to the bottom of one of those road-side cliffs and I am sure you'll find a few :)
Okay, not trying to sound heart-less at all here because I am not, however, our roads are anything but the "bumper-bowling roads" found in some states that sport much much higher taxes - we don't spend all that much on road-shoulder guide-rails because there's nothing to even affix them to - there's no shoulder - but we don't charge the residents high taxes down here.
So, if you don't mind the occasional perilous cliff nearby, and are a responsible driver, Tennessee is one of the most beautiful states AND cheapest places to live.
No, no you're by far not the first person to make mention of how perilous some of the roads are.
If you ask me, they make roadways and cars TOO safe, so people are placated by this feeling of safety and then become distracted with one or more mobile devices while driving - leading to distracted driving and usually (and unfortunately) a large crash. You can't lull folks into feeling a false sense of security, after-all, or they'll never learn to be careful and to protect themselves.
On a side note, why put guide rail in a car crash/physics/driving simulator anyways :)

    1. bob.blunderton
      Author's Response
You only have a Nvidia 750/750ti video card on your pc. These cards are several generations old and not adept at handling large maps, don't down-rate a map for performance issues when the maps description clearly recommends a better card then you have currently. Portraying a real forest is not easy at any rate, however, current technology *CAN* do it but not everyone is going to have the best FPS. Some people make maps anyone can run but they're like a shoe-box compared to my maps. I didn't put in what I did for PC parts and not make use of them :)
On a side-note, if you read the description, you can trade some scenic views for the replacement patch that lowers view distance on the discussion thread, page 5. It's linked in the map description. Let me know how well it works for you on the discussion forum.
Thank-you for still writing in. I may be able to bring the fps up a *little* in this map at a later date - but not today, it's almost 90F in here - even the dog has retreated to a cooler portion of the house.

Who is lonely that has Beamng and other sandbox-type simulator games where you can do anything whenever you want, for as long as your heart desires. Yes, there are plenty of Beamng.drive players here in Tennessee, I've been in touch with several of them since my Roane County map came out in beta almost a year ago.
So yes, there's quite a few of us, after-all, this game is getting pretty popular now.
Thanks for writing in & enjoy the map!

I person named RedRoosterFarm is making us Beamng players a minivan, it should be pretty awesome when it's done. Must give him time to finish it though, I am sure you can find the thread for it.
I am considering a patch to help for those on slower systems. Look for that to come out in the next few days, and some more time spent on optimization in the future as this is the map's first public appearance.

Thanks, I wanted to try and get the whole route in so it has to be somewhat 'large', luckily the route runs at an angle so I didn't have to make it even bigger & more laggy.

Man what a shame for the classic. There's a mod of that car so now he can drive it in-game! It's good ya'all still got to drive it, though. Every American and many folks near to us should have the opportunity to drive it at some point in their lives.

It's a 5.09 x 5.09 mile terrain snapshot, with 13.5 miles of road in it (about 1~2 10ths of mile is blocked off at the southern end), 318 curves, and most all of those translated through pretty well. Thanks for noticing the detail, it's not just as easy as carving the road, painting it up, and plopping trees in.
It can take hours upon hours and then you find you only did half a mile, but it's not a bother when you walk away after an evening even with just that half-mile of progress when it starts looking convincing.

Glad you didn't stall too long in making your review (okay okay bad pun). Yes, there's lots of trees, hopefully not so many it leaves (ugh) you with a bad frame rate. While there aren't many roads that branch (oh dear) off of the main route, you'll find much fun in what's there. If you're Pine-ing (ack!) for a good time on a winding route, and your car doesn't have too much junk in the trunk (audience groans), your car's engine will be barking (audience booing) in agony as you slide sideways through turn after turn. You'll leave your boredom in the (saw)dust with this map! Who ever 'wood' have thought this would be this much fun? STICK around for more good maps in the future, terrible tree-related puns, and may the forest be with you, to tolerate them all. When you're tired of this, I have tree (no! Stop!) other maps to choose from.
-I better stop... this isn't even funny anymore :)
