At the end of 1996, the last generation of cars under the Chaser brand in the X100 body was released for sale. The line of engines has not undergone dramatic changes, however, all engines of the JZ modification have acquired a VVT-i and ETCS valve timing system. After some time, to replace the 1G-FE with 140 hp. came 1G-FE BEAMS with 160 hp In 1998, the model was restyled; changes were made: front and rear bumpers, fog lights, head light received a standard xenon in the "low" one with an electronic light control in the cabin, a radiator grill, rear brake lights, direction indicators, a dashboard and part of the interior elements.
