Wreckage Road 1.0

Brave the Doom Spiral and sacrifice your car to the Pit for the honor of your tribe!

Welcome to Wreckage Road! Long ago, the gods threw rocks from the sky and devastated the land. Now the surviving tribes compete for the gods' favor in the Wreckage Road arena. The main competition takes place on the Doom Spiral, which begins with a 12-lane downhill race on smooth asphalt that squeezes into 6 lanes of gradually deteriorating road. Things only get worse from here as the road turns to 3-lanes of dirt with hills and rocks. Finally, drivers must make the climb into a large crater known simply as the Pit. Those who successfully enter the pit earn the favor of the desert gods and bring honor to their tribe. Survival is optional. Be warned: enter the Pit by any other path during the race and you bring dishonor to your tribe! Drivers can also compete on the Dirt Luge - a twisting, hilly race down to the river gorge. Make it to the other side to gain boons from the river spirits. Drivers from the A-Eye tribe like to chase soccer balls, so you can drop one in the Pit or in a small depression provided by the river to motivate them to compete. Just to the side of the first section of the Doom Spiral is the broken Sky Bridge. Some say successfully landing on the far side brings favor from the sky gods. When not competing, drivers can explore the many trails crisscrossing the area, which include rocky areas, narrow canyons, and riverside trails.

Thanks. Anything I make will be FPS-friendly by necessity until I can upgrade. On the pure grid map I can occasionally get up to 30 FPS if the wind blows just right!

High praise indeed! I had intended to put his guardrails in here. I got his permission, but it turned out my computer couldn’t handle the number of them I needed.

Thanks for the review! This is my first map so any feedback is appreciated. I like my maps big, but they have to be kind of simple so I don’t fry my potato-grade video card. :P
