I'd say its not worth upgrading FROM a 960 TO a 970. if you had something like a 700 / 600 series card, then go for the 970 unless you're broke... like me D: best to go for the 980 if you already have a 900 series card (or if you have the 950 for future readers, get a 970)

He didn't get anything yet so if he's still struggling to make a decision the faster stuff he'll get the better it will run.

Thats good, but check for voltage spikes, and just make sure the voltage doesn't go above the max recommended volts

Ha, oh man. I meant make sure the voltage doesn't go above the max recommended voltage. Temps are more available to get a reading, but voltage is important as well, and in my case at least, I needed to get a decent app to get a fast enough reading to catch the voltage going up and down. It would still catch the changes in voltage, but it sometimes missed certain readings

Get yourself a decent cooling device and carry on, the average overclock figure for Q6600 is 3,5 GHz using just air (and that's average, not maximum). You should easily be able to go past 3 GHz mark with anything more than a stock intel fan and, of course, good airflow through the case.

Let this image be your inspiration ;).

On the other hand, no matter how hard you push it, don't expect i7 performance in Drive. It just ain't gonna cut it here.
