The new Everton 4 was introduced in 1927 with great enthusiasm of the people. A sturdy, reliable, versatile car that captured the imagination of many. No wonder then that this car quickly became one of the most popular cars of its time! These cars were so reliable, that even decades after production of them were ceased, many could still be seen on the road. Eventually these simply, but repairable cars became popular for car hot-rodders and other car nuts, and even to this day many of these cars live on. With it Everton cemented it's place as an icon in the automotive history.

Hi there, I'm a newbie on the block when it comes to making BeamNG, but nonetheless, I want to present to you my project. The 1928 Everton.

I've been hand mondeling this car for the past month, doing my best to getting every detail right. Currently the model is only in Blender, and I've just started diving into mod making for BeamNG.

I plan on making a FULL featured mod, including dev level J-beams, correct physics, correct engine behavior and sounds, and any part of the model that should be interactable will be (luckily these old cars have a lot less going on for them than modern cars)

In addition to that I will make a full range of body styles, sedans, cabrios, coupes, roadsters, pickups, vans etc., s well as hot-rod variants and modern restomods. (in reality i'm not a fan of these, but this is a fantasy world, so let's go wild)

The mod will most likely be paid, with a free demo of a basic variant.

I made a Roadmap so you can follow the progress and see what is planned

I will update this tread as things move on. Feel free to come with feedback. (suggestions are also fine but keep the hot-rod requests to a minimum, it won't be the focus of this project)

dev level jbeam is rough work, dont kick yourself if you have to source things from other cars (where applicable for a pre war car lmao)
model looks really solid though. Thanks for not doing the cardinal sin of the forums and posting a thread before any tangible progress is made, that alone gives me promise this might actually go somewhere.

Okay this is epic, professional level of model/texture work you gone and done there

JBEAM is its own beast though, sadly there is not really any car that comes to mind that would suit this, so a lot of the work will likely have to be done from scratch, namely the suspension, body and perhaps the frame. Luckily these vintage cars tend to not be particularly complex in construction, nor are they particularly structurally rigid for their weight (unlike say an F1 car) and so jbeaming one should not pose much of a challenge in terms of making things stable:)

My best advice would probably be to study how official vehicle jbeams do things like frames, suspension, body panels, and try replicating something similar that suits your model, and don't be afraid to ask help form the community if you have trouble with anything;)

mm. Very nice model you've made, I like the front fascia a lot, looks nice. I also look forward to future interior work etc. Out of curiosity, what vehicles did you base it off, design and lore wise? I imagine the model A was probably an influence, but my knowledge of pre-war cars is very limited so I wouldn't really know- additionally, do you plan to add all of the complicated controls into the vehicle, like spark timing, carb adjustment rod etc? It'd be awesome to see those implemented into beamng, albeit as difficult as it is.

Even though the model is nice and I don't have a problem with this particular mod being paid, especially seeing as how there would be a demo and everyone else is busy making boring ass japan car meshslaps, the jbeam is gonna take a looooooong time. I'm hoping it doesn't become abandoned or unfinished like most of the other threads on here.

Y'all making me worried about the Jbeams now. It doesn't look that hard in the tutorials, especially with the newer tools coming out for it.

Either way, thanks for the support. And yes it's based on a Model A. I read about the "taking inspiration from multiple sources" only just now. So it's just a rebranding basically. The thing is, in my mind the Model A is already designed to perfection, so I think changing stuff would only make it worse. A lot of American cars looked very similar anyway at the time, most people wouldn't even notice the difference between een Chevy sedan or a Ford Sedan from 1928.

@JF9 I want to implement them, but as far as I understand currently cars aren't actually driven yet by an actual simulation of the engine mechanics. So I wonder how much I can make the effect actually change things. The spark advance would have to limit power if it's not set correctly for the right speed. And the gav knob should have to effect fuel consumption and heat. Having to hold a button for the choke to start cold would als be fun to have.

I can't seem to edit my original post, even if I don't change anything and submit it tells me there is spam or inappropriate content. There isn't even any links in there, just the 5 pictures. I tried to contact an admin but haven't heard back yet. Anyone knows what to do about this?

I've been meshslapping for 3 years and recently i went to scratch stuff and i can tell you it will be very hard, why? Well first thing is its not some sedan or hatchback its an old car and yeah you will need to (frmo what i guess) make scratch jbeam as none of the cars in game jbeams will fit to this one (im guessing that even suspension isn't like in early 90s cars and oh boy suspension is hell), second is beamng modding really slaps your face constantly getting some errors even 1 node moved wrongly can destroy whole part jbeam lol, althought nonetheless good luck with the mod. (also i don't want to be that guy but could you show 3d model poly? im just curious how it looks)

Nice to see a pre-war car. Too bad it's paid, but well...

Exactly. You should start with small-scale projects like number plates. I personally don't (and won't) make a car part or even a whole vehicle because as you said, it's very hard, unlike other racing games.

Speaking of meshslaps, can I see your "meshslaps"?

@Traxisek I think I'll be alright. I have a lot of experience with physics models and rigging. as well as game development in general. I see it as a challenge, I've always been a top-down learner who learns best when diving in the deep end immediately.

@DannyZGR15 Making the mod paid allows me to justify the time and effort to make this mod to make it fully worth while. The pricing won't be excessive, comparable to what the other full-scratch makers ask for theirs. But this way I can spend work hours on it, as it neatly aligns with my normal work, which is making 3D reconstructions of historical objects, vehicles or places for musea and heritage. I think BeamNG is the best place to allow people to enjoy the heritage of these cars, when they don't have the opportunity to drive or buy a real antique. That's why there will also be a free version, so no one is completely left out. It'll just lack the variations, and most of the advanced interactivity, which is what will take me the most effort to get right.

What engines will be available? Will there be rear-hinged doors?

At first just the 4 cyl flathead. But you'll be able to modify it with different addons or part to increase power. There will be various carburetor, exhaust, ignition and head variations, and also variants of overdrive and flywheel so you can go from stock, to hotrod.

Maybe later I'll add in the option to swap in a V8 flathead, as it also fits the engine compartment and was a popular hotrod engine, but that's future ideas.

And yes, the 4 door variant will have working rear doors, and the van variant will have one or two doors at the back. As well as a hatch for the pickup.

An I6 would be cool, too. Maybe for the higher-end and/or heavy-duty variants?

I love the I6 flathead as well, but that wouldn't fit in the current chassis and body styles. So it will either clip through or I'll have to make a whole bunch of extra variations. Maybe I'll make a speedster variant with an custom I6 mod of the 4cyl that will have a non stock body anyways. A tribute to Edsel Fords secret 6cyl speedster he made against his fathers wishes.

Heavy-duty variants will just have a different transmission available, like was commonly done at the time.

These types of cars have handled a great depression, and big war (and have survived through them), honestly they deserves a high quality mod in every single game, including beamng.
Good job! looking forward to this.
