    Update!
It’s been a hell of a while since my last update on this thread, nearly a month infact, so I’m not gonna include absolutely everything, but here’s the general idea of what I’ve been doing.

    —PRE 0.24—

Firstly, I continued the redesigned bumper and got it in game…
    upload_2021-12-11_18-12-46.jpg
    …then added a bumper support…
    (with)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-14-33.jpg
    (without)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-14-33.jpg
…which was when I realised I really needed to improve overall crash safety.
Small improvements, but it’s a step in the right direction.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-16-15.jpg
    upload_2021-12-11_18-16-47.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-16-47.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-16-47.jpg
Then I decided to crash a K-Series into the side of it and discovered yet more lack of safety.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-17-30.jpg
    …but that’s being improved later.
Then I brought back the old styling with small edits to match the detail of the current styling:

    upload_2021-12-11_18-45-1.jpg
    …onto the rear.
Boot detail added, with numberplate lights, rear light housing and rear glass housing. (both upper and lower)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-21-4.jpg
…and a JBeam model for both halves to be put in game with.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-21-52.jpg
    Top half in game!
    upload_2021-12-11_18-22-14.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-14.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-14.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-14.jpg
    …with hydraulics of course.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-22-31.jpg
    …and the bottom half!
    upload_2021-12-11_18-22-50.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-50.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-50.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-22-50.jpg
    Both together:
    upload_2021-12-11_18-23-20.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-24-42.jpg
(yes I forgot to mention the rear bumper, I somehow didn’t take any pictures of it)

    …onto the engine I guess…
    Exhaust in!
    upload_2021-12-11_18-25-23.jpg
Radiator in! (with custom fan shroud and piping)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-26-4.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-26-4.jpg

    …back onto the rear…
    Rear light buckets!
    upload_2021-12-11_18-26-48.jpg
    Rear quarter lights in…
    upload_2021-12-11_18-27-9.jpg
    …and the boot’s lightbar…
    upload_2021-12-11_18-27-35.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-27-35.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-27-35.jpg
(I made them separate into 3 pieces, making the whole rear light cluster 5 pieces)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-28-17.jpg

    Polyflow update:
    upload_2021-12-11_18-30-24.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-30-24.jpg
…which @Nacho Problem saw and told me to make improvements to the rear quarter and wheel arch, increasing polycount and making it all overall neater.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-31-2.jpg

    …to crash safety…
Many crash safety improvements, with better body stiffness, and better dispersion of impact across the front.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-32-6.jpg
Which leads me to that side impact, which is still stupidly unsafe.
It might not look too bad until you see…
    upload_2021-12-11_18-33-16.jpg
…the interior. Imagine being the passenger in here, that’s like half of your footwell filled and a door card completely rammed into you by a 40mph impact.
    upload_2021-12-11_18-33-16.jpg
…so I made it a lot stronger. The doors aren’t much better (I improved the locks and impact strength later) but the body holds itself in shape a lot better.
(These images have already been posted but for the sake of comparison I’ll post them again)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-36-21.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-36-21.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-36-21.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-36-21.jpg

    …to the front…
Theo was nagging me to make this to tidy things up, so here’s an undertray:
    upload_2021-12-11_18-39-42.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-39-42.jpg
    …and in game…
    upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg
(backmost triangles were turned into non-collision triangles due to suspension stress)
    upload_2021-12-11_18-40-0.jpg

I’ll end it off here as I’ve got a lot more to go through and I don’t wanna make you guys bored after already reading this much. I’ll post another later or something, thanks for you guys’ interest in the car so far!

    Part #2 on post #178.

    Update (Part 2)!
So, I said I hadn’t updated people on everything, which still holds true of course, so here’s the second part to the update. This is continuing from the front undertray.

    Side cover panels modelled…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-29-34.jpg
(Since it’s not super obvious, here’s an outline)
    upload_2021-12-13_20-29-34.jpg

…out of the internals, onto the long-awaited glass.
    Windscreen installed!
    upload_2021-12-13_20-30-55.jpg
    …with a temporary Roamer texture.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-30-55.jpg
    Side glass…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-31-48.jpg
…and rear glass (quarters and upper boot)
    upload_2021-12-13_20-32-16.jpg
…which draws a very quick finish to the glass.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-32-16.jpg
It’s not gonna get a break texture until I make my own main texture, so here’s how it looks right now:
    upload_2021-12-13_20-36-1.jpg

    M
    upload_2021-12-13_20-36-1.jpg
    Rubber
seal between the engine and the windscreen… I think it’s for sound insulation?
    upload_2021-12-13_20-37-39.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-37-39.jpg

Now to separate the side skirts, which means modelling a support on the body.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-38-49.jpg
Side steps! This included a slight lowering of the standard skirts.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-40-2.jpg
    …and in game.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-40-18.jpg

Next, the wingmirrors, for most the hardest part of modelling a car.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-41-44.jpg
    …and the mirror bit:
    upload_2021-12-13_20-42-6.jpg
It’s a modern car, so I can’t just leave it as a simple block, so I added a little bit of silver trim which also attached the indicator.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-42-56.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-42-56.jpg
    …and, finally, the stand.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-43-32.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-43-32.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-43-32.jpg
Now to get it in game.
(temporary Roamer JBeam to see how it looked, but it was attached in the wrong place and far far too small so I changed it a lot)
    upload_2021-12-13_20-43-50.jpg
    upload_2021-12-13_20-44-36.jpg

    The general bodywork is done!
    upload_2021-12-13_20-45-23.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-45-23.jpg
I think it’s ready for some detail, starting with the bumper. This is gonna be based on this design which I posted a month or so back…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-47-16.jpg
    …which I got in blender…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-49-22.jpg
…then started modelling, with the side vents first.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-49-55.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-49-55.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-49-55.jpg
    …then the lower centre vent…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-50-27.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-50-27.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-50-27.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-50-27.jpg
    …then the upper…
    upload_2021-12-13_20-50-54.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-50-54.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-50-54.jpg
…which, except for potential edits later on, means the front bumper is finished!
    upload_2021-12-13_20-50-54.jpg

Some cool pictures taken by @Theo Wilkinson and motion-blurred by me.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-52-20.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-52-20.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-52-20.jpg

So, I’ve got the front bumper detailed, but what about the rear? It’s a lot more bland at the moment with only a simple black diffuser, and it needs reflectors at least.
This means I need to design another thing, so I added to the rear lightbar design I did at the same time I did the frontal counterpart.
(centre panel gap is a tow hitch cover)
    upload_2021-12-13_20-55-39.jpg
Then I got it in blender, and started modelling it.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-57-2.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-57-2.jpg upload_2021-12-13_20-57-2.jpg
…and added the tow hitch cover.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-57-19.jpg
And, finally, I got it in game.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-58-0.jpg
…with the tow hitch cover as a separable part.
    upload_2021-12-13_20-58-20.jpg

That’s where we’re at today! Thanks for reading this far, and hope to see you guys on the thread!

    Next update on post #223!
