I would love to have a highway map, which would not impact a crappy computer like mine, like, just a long stretch of roads, the occasional turn, but the thing I want to see most in a map like this would be not alot of vegetation, sand on the side of the road, all the way down, but if we do get one,I would definitely use it,as long as it is highly FPS friendly. I have no idea how to do that,if I did,I wouldn't post this, but,I would really like to see one. Not alot of background, just a stretch of road, sand on the side, maybe put hills on the sides past the sand. Something like this. Green=Mountain/Hill Black=Road Tan=Sand Something like that, occasional turns, sand on the side, maybe a few potholes.
How about these? https://www.beamng.com/resources/ssrb.523/ https://www.beamng.com/resources/matrix-freeway.48/
I already use SSRB,infact,I get better FPS on that than on Gridmap. That just shows how bad my computer is. But I like Matrix Freeway and all,but it's not exactly long enough for my liking. And I would like to have sand on the side. Why sand? If you go into it sideways,it flips the car, easily. I really want to get some shots of cars flipping because I think it would be a good touch to some of my vids.
Are these more like what you are looking for? https://www.beamng.com/resources/bonneville-salt-flats-speed-week.1876/ https://www.beamng.com/resources/the-flats.2107/
I will try the flats, but I would love grippy sand on the side of the road. I wanna get moving, like really fast,E-Brake,slide into the sand, and flip.
Nevada Interstate should run fine. So-cal wont until I update it again (it's in the works, just not right quick). So-cal's draw-distance is too far. If you have issues with draw-distance, go into the f11 map editor in-game, while running the game in windowed mode and not full screen (alt+enter toggles this). Then when the editor loads, press f1 to make sure you're in object edit mode, and look up THELEVELINFO (right-side search box above the item hierarchy) and change the far view distance / far view plane, and make it some number between 500~2500 (meters) and hit enter. Now save the map after editing this value and resume play. When done editing press f11 and wait while it recomputes the level, and resume play as before. OR you can also edit this from the main.level.json file in each map levels/MAPNAMEHERE/main.level.json, and search for: Code: "name" : "theLevelInfo" and replace the 4 or 5 digit number (on FAR VIEW PLANE or DISTANCE) with 500~2500 as above, and save the main.level.json and then load your map (this is only checked on map load, so either do it before you play OR reload the map). Both methods do the same thing. ENJOY! If you also haven't tried to most recent update of Nevada Interstate do try it out as the last update improved FPS (was 2 months to 4 months ago it was updated). Changing video detail config can help a lot in options>graphics menu. Slow cpu or just overly detailed map? turn off shadows or set to player only. Slow FPS even while physics paused (J key), then turn down/off REFLECTIONS, and turn down texture quality/detail. This should help.
Why don't you make your own map? It wouldn't be hard to make a simple highway like you're talking about.
Oh, didn't notice that lol. But still, It's not hard. https://wiki.beamng.com/Starting_a_new_map_project
