I was bored and I'm a train enthusiast so I thought I'd create this thread. Mine are: Wootton Bassett Road, 1840 - 1841, Reason: Renovation Wootton Bassett Railway Station, 1841 - 1903, Reason: Renovation Wootton Bassett Junction, 1903 - 1965, Reason: The "Beeching Axe" caused the station to close. Swindon Town Railway Station / Junction Halt, 1881 - 1961 (passengers) 1972 - Closed completely, Reason: The "Beeching Axe" caused the station to close, this station is replaced by a new one though just southwest of Gorse Hill. (feel free to upload anything else)
It's not abandoned just disused. There is a former Cumberland Valley Railroad station near me, that was used from 1875 to 1952 The Cumberland Valley Railroad was bought by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1919, and due to lack of revenue closed the station. Today it is used as a museum and is on the National Register for historic places. Also, Harrisburg has some abandoned infrastructure regarding railroads. You can see the old roadbed. There are plans to make that bridge something similar to the Highline in New York City. However I don't have any hopes for this knowing Harrisburg's budget. There is also a very large yard owned by Norfolk Southern across the river from Harrisburg. The town is called Enola, which humorously, is Alone spelled backwards.
Which stations in my list are you talking about? I live close to the 2 locations I listed in my list and the most that remains of either stations is a bit of the platform.
The Tremont Street Subway, although I have no idea why it was abandoned. It's in the capitol of my state, but I don't live there luckily.
I agree, because I know one in my city, the FR Airport. It was closed because the landfill was next to it, which disrupted the airplanes.
