Like running an engine with horrible rod bearings or head gaskets would be fun or running an engine without oil to death. My english is little bit dirty sorry Also pistons are not getting fully damaged so engine can basically work.
you can use the console to damage the engine https://www.beamng.com/threads/cons...ston-rings-and-connecting-rod-bearings.78792/
Im not talking about engine damage im talking about starting engines with extremely broken rod bearings, piston rings etc.
You can do that using the console. You can turn the engine off and on, you can let it idle until you run out of fuel, you can drive the car, you can do whatever you want.
thing is, even if the fuel is empty, the starter doesnt do anything, but rolling the car and putting it in gear (jerk starting) does turn it over.. buuuut, when the bearings and stuff are damaged, eg: head gasket, rod bearings etc, not so sure..
Starter motor still works with heavily damaged rod bearings and head gasket. --- Post updated --- Unless devs add this into the game.
It depends on the damage to the engine if it is ever going to be capable again of turning over: Without lubrication the pistons weld themselves to the cylinder wall. So when you try to start it, several things can happen: The starter motor is to weak to overcome the friction = engine dead The starter motor is strong enough to rip apart the weld between piston and cylinder wall. This may be aided by the engine having cooled a bit in the meantime. Engine will run but the metal on metal friction between piston and cylinder wall will almost certainly kill it for good pretty soon. Connecting rods give in..... you are good for a few more rotations while they shatter and smash the internals of your engine but then it will never more ever again because even the most powerful starter is not going to drive metal into metal without help of inertia and combustion energy. Main bearings or crankshaft give in.... again your crankshaft turns into an metal on metal shredder for last few rotations it will ever do. So in reality.... it can happen that an engine will start again.... but it depends on what damage happens first and how bad the weld between piston and cylinder wall is. If the weld is bad enough, it wont ever start again because piston and cylinder wall have become one solid unit. Beam NG simulates this pretty accurately. It stil would be nice to have an non console switch for triggering a particular damage. Blown head gaskets - as long as it is not enough water to cause a hydrolock - dont kill the engine outright but obviously are not prolonging its life either.
