Absence of cigarette lighters in most cars, is it on purpose?

While modeling an interior for one of my mods and beginning to model a cigarette lighter, a thought struck my mind - "I've never noticed a lighter in an official car".
I decided to take a look at all official cars and found out that only Bolide, 800-series, SBR4 and Hopper have lighters, while both Pessimas and 200BX only have empty sockets without the lighters themselves.
Was it done on purpose?

 

Hmm you have a point there, most cars should have them. They also don't have aerials or fuel doors.

 

It's so you can plug in a portable vacuum duster, provided it's fully jbeamed and the mesh isn't stolen.

The lack of fuel doors is to save texture file space by allowing the sides to be mirrored IIRC.

OT: I don't think I have ever actually seen the cigarette lighter in a car; it's just been the socket in every car I bothered paying attention to this.
