Add Gas Cap Covers to Cars

    While a modest and basic component of a car BeamNG.Drive lacks Gas Caps Covers on their cars, just a simple outline would make the game look even more realistic. The gas cap covers don't have to open in a crash but if they did it would look nice.

    it would mess up the jbeam, and it would have to be a skin.

    There is a reason behind this. If they were to model a gas cap for every car it would screw up the UV causing skins to be misaligned and cause other problems with the model too.
    This is somewhat wrong. The jbeam would not be affected by adding a gas cap unless it caused major spiking. Making a gas cap skin however would be useless.

    such a small thing, it'll get added in a hotfix one day, worry about more important things like cars, maps, graphics, physics, optimizations, i don't think the top of their priority list is GASCAPS

    They won’t add gas caps ever. Such a useless thing to add. Plus they wouldn’t add it in a hotfix as they would add it in an update.

    And besides, if they added fuel caps, people would ask why they don't fall off, if they did they would ask for realistic fuel leak animation from it, then realistic refueling on gas station, then animated openable gas caps, then a realistic human that opens the gas cap, then a fully Jbeamed human with realistic damage, and the game rating would go into 18+, then they would want guns, etc. Basically adding such a tiny thing would make a massive rabbit hole of more stuff they would need to add because of this.

    The OP may be problematic, but it gave me another idea. How involved would it be to add some kind of trigger to a gas pump model so when you stop within a meter or so, your tank fills up?

    Uh, no. Just simply adding a gas ccap outline to the rear quarter panel wouldn't mess the jbeam up...

    There already is a gas system in game. Play the out of gas Autobello Piccolina scenario.

    You can do it with minimal issue, so long as you just want it functional. Put a gas station object on a map, add a BeamNG lua trigger, and write up some LUA that makes your car's gas tank refill when you enter the trigger area.

    He means being able to refill gas in free roam. There's already a mod that does it. Although i found it pretty useless since repairing/restoring the car in ANY way always refills your gas and the game has real life gas autonomy paired with overly small maps means there's not much of a reason to do that often.
