I understand it's unrealistic but how would I go about adding ESC/TCS and ABS to say, the Ibishu Covet? Is it as simple as editing a few files or do I have to start from the ground up?

Even thought I didn't find anything about ESC/TCS or ABS (with pressure wheels) in Wiki, I'm sure it's just some code in the jbeam.

Try looking at some of the official vehicles' jbeam-files to find how it's done.

I tried editing the SBR file for the covet by changing it to hatch_esc.jbeam and I changed the contents of the file from sbr_esc.jbeam to hatch_esc.jbeam but it wouldn't show up in the parts selector.

    of course it wont
You need to add a slot for it too. As I did to my pessima for upcoming mod.

You say it like it's obvious but I'm not familiar with coding and making mods yet so how would I go about doing this?

    open hatch.jbeam
Look for where it says slots and has a big list of slots.
Add a slot matching the slotType for your ESC part.

That worked, ESC is flawless but the TCS isn't working.

TCS is tuned for a bigger engine than the covet and grippier tires. Quite possible its unaware of you slipping.

I tried tweaking the settings. Some of them are common sense like the slipthreshold but I don't know about the other settings like the braking factor or the brakethrottleswitchthreshold. So is it possible to tune the settings for the covet or just use a larger engine? Also I looked at the TCS debug app and it was a flat grey line so yeah it probably didn't know I was slipping.

it probably can be tuned for the covet, but I havent played with traction control tuning myself so cant really provide any guidance there.
