Is there a way you guys could put tuning in for a stronger parking brake, or a turning brake for each vehicle? I like to tune my gavril D-series for tracks and I typically try to use the parking brake as a hand brake. It would be nice to be able to add more strength to the parking brake, or even a “handbrake” part for each vehicle so I could actually use it as a turning brake. Some vehicles have a really good parking brake but I have found the need to adjust it a lot because they aren’t strong enough in other vehicles.

    Thank you for your time!

if you put more race-oriented brake parts in, it should increase the force of the handbrake.

one thing to check, is your car AWD or 4WD? if it's got a locked centre differential, locking the rear wheels will force the front wheels to also lock, so you won't be able to kick it into a slide with the handbrake.

It should not be too difficult, just copy the lines for adjustable racing brakes to the parking brake in the brake.json file I think it is.

I have tried using all the different types of brakes and pads for the D-series, and I typically use a limited slip diff to allow the parking brake to lock the back wheels and not induce drag through the drivetrain.

Some styles of limited slip center diff will still transfer some braking force from back to front. IIRC this was a characteristic of the early Audi Quattro rally cars as well.

The vanilla cars all have parking brakes strong enough to force the rear wheels to slide. Of course you have to consider the rotating mass of the engine if you do not engage the clutch or even have throttle on RWD cars. On the other hand any kind of AWD center differential (even open) will transport more or less p-brake force to the front and engine power to the rear. The only way to avoid this, is to have an electronic split shaft like the vivace rally car. It immediately decouples the rear axle from the drivetrain if p-brake is engaged. In this case all the power of the p-brake goes to rear whereas all the power of the engine goes to front. If released you have AWD back again. 4WD cars like the D-Series don't have this option. So maybe  it is a good way for you to place the vivace electronic split shaft inbetween the center lock and rear diff of the D-Series...
Edit: Hope that's true. I'm not 100% shure

For clarification, I understand how drivetrains work, and how different characteristics effect the strength of a parking brake. The problem I am having is if a Gavril D-series truck is moving in any configuration. the parking brake has little to no force when used as a turning brake. I am merely asking that there be a slider in the tuning menu to increase said force, or non mod parts for a turning brake.

Thank you all for the immense clarification on how the drivetrain can weaken the strength of the parking brake. However, I don't believe the solution here is leaving an open diff in a 2wd truck, and expecting that to be fun to drive around a track. I am simply asking Devs to look into adding a feature to make vehicles more enjoyable, and tune-able.

I didn't mean to doubt your knowledge. I just thought it would be informative since I usually always managed to lock up a free D-Series rear axle. But if you're looking for a brutal handbrake even blocking the complete drivetrain, I quickly built a mod for you. It includes a new rear axle brake for the D-Series. The handbrake is so fierce that it heats up just by lightly rocking the vehicle when stationary (cause BNG calculates some friction LOL). You can make your own mod out of it or simply adjust the handbrake to your liking by changing the value in line 28. Have fun !
(place the zip in the mods folder or only the extracted .jbeam in vehicles/pickup)

No problem, and thank you for doing that. I still would like to see if they could create a part built in to the game that applies this same feature without the bugs. I.e. the brakes heating up with the slightest friction :D

    It's not a bug, it's BeamNG! :D
