I have an '03 Subaru Outback. Parts are extremely rare to find but I see pictures on Google with some really nice customizations. Can anybody direct me to a site where I can actually find parts such as body kits and performance engine parts? I've tried CariD but they pretty much only have the generic parts for my car (light bulbs, air filters, etc), nothing worth a crap. I couldn't even find 1 aftermarket body kit anywhere, not even a single bumper. Don't get me wrong though, I do plan on playing with the engine too, but I'm probably just going to swap it for an STi motor and tranny. Also, I haven't slept last night so sorry if anything sounded weird, I'm extremely tired.
There are many parts suppliers on the Internet. Go Ebay-spec on the cheaper gear (filters, strut braces, etc). Serious mods need to be bought from a serious performance parts outlet, or go second hand. Up to you. Power: 2003 Subaru Outback has a EJ251, assuming it's a USDM car. Please read these threads to get an idea of modding this motor. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195694 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1250397#post1250397 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1022154 STI swaps are very expensive, time consuming, and labour intensive. Make sure you have a second car and plenty of Benjamins. Visuals: Not entirely sure about bodykits, but most parts from Subarus of this vintage are swappable. WRX bumpers and such should fit with minimal modification. Go to your local car wreckers and hunt for panels. MAKE SURE YOU GET A RECEIPT IN CASE THINGS DON'T FIT. Handling: Uprated brakes, strut braces, anti-roll bars, polyurethane bushes, and cheap coilovers are all you really need for a street car. Go Ebay-spec or find second hand gear. rs25.com and nasioc.com are your best friends. If anything explodes, I'm not responsible; you mod at your own risk.
This forum section is for BeamNG discussion. Should have been asked here: http://www.beamng.com/forums/42-Automotive Subaru has quite a bit of parts commonality across vehicles. Other thing to watch for, are the modded cars RHD JDM models. Japan has a huge aftermarket parts industry, little of it actually leaves japan. Bodykits and catback exhaust systems for a prius, good luck finding out of those normally, available in japan. STI engine, mounting wise is a drop in replacement. Gearbox may be drop in depending on whether your car is originally an auto or a manual. STI rear diff will be drop in. ECU, wiring and plumbing is the problem. Pros can do the job in a morning, but otherwise, engine swaps are no easy feat. Often easier to buy an STI car in the first place.
Thank you both for the detailed replies. Yes, it is a USDM. I want a JDM so bad but it's going to cost a bit for importing. Unless I can find one here but no saying how much they'd be looking for. I'll be sure to check out those sites. In fact I'll do it after I hit send. Only reason I want to swap is because it think this would be a nice project car. It's underappreciated in my opinion.
