I'm going to get a new CPU soon and I'm wondering what one I should get. I have an AMD Fx 6100 (It kinda Sucks)

Because I allready have an AMD mother board. It would be cheaper to get the Fx 8350 but is the preformance as good as an I5?

If anybody has any of these processors let me know, and tell me you FPS

If you only want it for BeamNG then get a Intel CPU, however if you not that concerned about BeamNG performance then get an FX-8350 as it works flawlessly with all other modern games.

I have an i7 3770k @4.6GHz, but i'm held back quite a bit with my AMD 6870. At 1080p, im getting around 60 fps on less graphically intensive maps, like Gridmap. When you pause the physics, i dont really get any increase in fps, since im bottlenecked by my graphics. If i lower the resolution to 720p, i get around 90 fps i think. On more graphically intensive maps, ill usually get around 30 fps at 1080p.

BeamNG runs perfectly fine on AMD.

I have a AMD 8150 and I7-3770k; Both are very good, the I7 has the supreme edge in comparison overall but in general there is near to no difference from my point of view. Playing beamNG is similar on both setups, the AMD slightly more laggy with larger collisions. I moved from the AMD to Intel processor because... i was led to believe that Intel was immensely more powerful... it isn't, as i said, there are some noticeable boosts to having the I7, i do see less lag and faster processing response (something like that) but not greatly different. I hope this has helped. Knowing what i know now, i would still go with Intel even though there is a larger price margin, but AMD processors aren't far behind in performance. You can look at benchmarks and such which might give you a good idea as to the performance differences, but keep in mind, both processors you stated are high grade processors so either one is good.

My 965 BE is sitting on a 4.8ghz oc and it still laggs every now and then on beamng. My 3770k is where the magic was. I had a i5 2400s and it handled similar to what the 965 did on a stock clock. AMD's are good processors but as of right now it seems that beamng is more adjusted for intel cpu's. The race update is gonna help alot of us people with mid range systems.

I use an an AMD FX8350, and the only issue I have is my graphics card. It barely handles my monitor's native resolution. I only see upto a 5 FPS improvement disabling physics in extreme circumstances.

I'm the opposite of you Zipppy :p, with an extremely large bottleneck. To the OP I would go with intel if you are on a large budget and AMD if you want to save some money as the new chips improved a lot over bulldozer and still offer great price/performance.

You'll be fine with the FX 8350. The question is, do you wanna pay some extra cash for better performance? Is it worth it?. For me it is, I like to keep a CPU a few years, so paying some extra dollars for better performance all that time is totally worth it.

my experence with AMD and INTEL processors.

AMD: Cheap, decently fast but runs hot
INTEL: Expensive, ultra fast and runs cool.

but in the end you are looking for price, the AMD one is good for price, but may bite you back in the ass when it over heats or breaks.
the INTEL one may be expensive one now, but good in the long run.

I'd definitely say go with the i5, unless you don't want to spend that extra money. I don't have either processor, but in the next 2 weeks I hope to finally build a computer (instead of my craptop that runs everything in lowest settings and resolution usually 15 or less FPS...) and I am going to buy an i5 that runs at 3.2GHz (don't remember the exact model.) My friend recently built a computer, he has the i5 I just mentioned he says it was worth it and gives about +5 FPS. I'd say stick with the i5 unless it's out of your budget.

EDIT: Well, I built the computer about a week ago. I got an i5 4440. It runs Drive perfectly fine in maximum settings :) . I also have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660.

I suggest Intel hardware and Nvidia GPU's for hassle free BeamNG. I so want to love AMD and Beam but they seem to have irreconcilable differences. Jmho.

you know I have to give AMD one thing, I find the processors to be pretty damn durable. the one I have now (AMD Phenom 8450 triple core 2.1 Gz - believe it or not but beamng is actually playable with this dated piece) I was cleaning it and forgot to plug in the cooling fan. it overheated twice before I realized my fuck up because I didn't know what was going on the first time my computer died and turned it back on. That was years ago, I still have yet to have a problem with this processor. I know others who have beat the shit outta these things too and they take it well.

Fun fact. I don't even get past %75 usage when playing this. but that's because my gpu is an HD 3*** series... I'm to poor to even pay attention

Modern motherboard will shut down the pc before it does damage to it self and other components, so it isn't that amd is better it is just that there are protective measures in place.

Eh, heat still does damage over time. And AMD does tend to have tougher chips in part because they are built on a larger process which allows for more abuse/heat/voltage/wattage.
