Hello everybody! I just wondered if it is possible to add a collision mesh to animated objects. I've created some objects with an animation, like this little funfair ride: ...or this gate: ...or this animated sphere: "Mesh Collision" works...but the collision-mesh don't move. It is like the object is standing still. "Collision Mesh" also don't work. I tried to assign the same animation data from the main object to the collision mesh. Same result as "Mesh Collision" setting. If this would work...it would gave mapmakers a lot of new possibilities. Imagine all the stuff, like elevators, acceleration strips...etc. Thanks in advance for your help! Regards, MysteryManGER
First of all i would like to comment on how fun Car Jump Arena is, i love it . About animated collision meshes. It cannot be done . There is a downside to being able to have millions of free-form static collision triangles running in realtime, and the downside is that they have to be static [*]. The only way to achieve moving collision geometry is to have the whole thing, that needs to move, as a simulated object (a dynamic prop essentially). [*] a rough explanation of that is that the physics core has to optimize the static collisions as much as possible. And the main way to do that is to simplify the problem down to the basics which are: static collision geometry can be huge but it cannot move, dynamic collision geometry can move but it is small.
