Oh, now you've done it. I tried to be nice, now here you are calling me a bold faced lier. I don't care what your "friend" gets in Witcher 3 at 4K, that card won't perform like you said it would. It just will not. You don't have any idea about what games are coming out in the future. Of course that card can run modern titles 4K60 (not even in Witcher 3's case), because "modern" titles were built to run on GTX 900/R9 300. It's moore's law, of course GTX 1000 is twice as fast at GTX 900 because GTX 900 was about twice as fast as 700 which was about twice as fast as 600 and so on and so forth. It's modern graphics hardware evolution. I can make a 1070 choke in GTA V with some shaders, easily. It's not as fast as you think. And don't you ever, EVER, call me a fanboy of anything. Who in the hell do you think you are? I use AMD cards because I just happen to prefer them. I could go team green in a minute if they gave me a solid reason to. I also don't like Nvidia's business practices, and I don't like their drivers. Now, I also despise things about my current setup, such as stability (there is none), heat, power consumption, all that good stuff. Fanboyism is for those with small minds. Fanboyism is for people... People like you. People who seem to think I'm an AMD fanboy because I just happen to use their cards. No. Fuck you.
For you. --- Post updated --- My intention was not to anger you, calm down you ill tempered baboon. I can post a video on YouTube if you want proving it and then I can link it here. Btw what's not to like about Nvidia's drivers? It is a common occurence when people say how bad AMD drivers are. About you choking the 1070 with some shaders easily, at what res do you mean? 720p? 1080p? 1440p? 4k? 5k? And what kind of shaders are you talking about. Stop taking this so seriously man, relax. EDIT: His 1070 is the EVGA SSC and he overclocked it himself even more. Of course it gets higher performance than the Founders edition benchmarks you were looking at.
No, I don't care about the cards, I'm pissed from the personal attack you made on me. As far as I'm concerned, fuck the cards. This isn't how to talk to people, you need to get out and interact with other humans. Go out and speak to them like you've spoken to me, and see how far you get before someone puts you on your ass. I do, and I'll be honest, I get decked a lot. But at least then I know how to speak to other humans with at least some form of respect. Also, once again, you can't compare an aftermarket overclocked card to a reference card that hasn't even been released yet. It goes back to the whole fanboyism thing. Of course I were comparing the two reference cards together because that's what a sensible, bias free person would do.
So, its more than $50 more you said it was, which does nothing but prove my point :| Its also twice the price of an RX 480 but its sure as hell not twice the performance. Wait until benchmarks come out then we will know. Its also total bullshit that the GTX 1070 can run "all games at 4k max settings" (i mean unless you want considerably below 60FPS) Proof: http://i.imgur.com/u5WMff5.png http://i.imgur.com/2VNc1AD.png http://i.imgur.com/F9QSrI3.png http://i.imgur.com/ejkaPtL.png http://i.imgur.com/Suuto6c.png Your freind could have overclocked all they want, won't make up over 20FPS gains...
You're the baboon. You made a rather bold claim: A claim that the GTX 1080 can live up to, but not the 1070. Not for 60fps at least, which should be expected when you make a claim like that. @redrobin called you out on that claim, rightly so. Then you blatantly called him a liar for reasons I can't figure out. You made a claim, he called you out on it, and you called him a liar. Makes no sense. Especially considering your "prized" benchmarks don't back you up (thanks @VeyronEB). The data speaks for itself. You made a false claim. Don't call people liars because they don't blindly listen to you.
Yes, for me. I said "for me", so don't get salty. What are you trying to reach here? What is your problem, kid? What is your goal? Why do you call anyone who disagrees with you an ape? The only one who's ill tempered here is you, and when a 14-year-old calls you kid, it's time to stop and get some common sense in how to talk with someone.
Also, team red will ave completely have the monopole in console gaming by next year, as well as in PC gaming in about five years. Nvidia is currently trying to get into car computers before they completely get kicked out of gaming. I saw the video about the master plan.
Sorry about the double post, I'm too lazy for clicking a button I guess. When you compare his numbers with the numbers that were released, you end up with the R9 490 having about the performance of a 980Ti. Or maybe a tiny bit less.
My intention was not to anger you, calm down you ill tempered baboon. I can post a video on YouTube if you want proving it and then I can link it here. Btw what's not to like about Nvidia's drivers? It is a common occurence when people say how bad AMD drivers are. About you choking the 1070 with some shaders easily, at what res do you mean? 720p? 1080p? 1440p? 4k? 5k? And what kind of shaders are you talking abo Only about 5% of cards sold are reference cards. And btw the overclocking doesn't make that much of a difference. I think you should realize that the RX 480 isn't even released yet, there are no benchmarks for it. --- Post updated --- Yes it will, the founders edition throttles whereas my friend's evga ssc does not. --- Post updated --- 1070 founders edition gets 48 fps on ultra settings at 4k. There is quite a big difference between a stock clock and a fully overclocked, aftermarket card. Thanks, you just helped me prove my point. --- Post updated --- Two 8gb edition 480s, priced at 299 each. thats 598 which is the same price as a 1080, (oh yes also beamng doesnt support sli or crossfire) --- Post updated --- Then, that means the 480 has the performance of a 980 or a bit less. The 1080 beats two 980's in SLI.
I'm not even going to fight you anymore. It's a losing battle. You're head is way too far up your own ass to realize when you are wrong. I pity you, you poor soul.
Just wanted to show you you just wrote the one thing, then the other thing. In the same post. Amen...
You actually proved my point perfectly. You were right in the first quote. Overclock does not make enough of a difference to get 10+ fps at 4K. Thanks.
I feel like I can finally post this meme I bunkered, I waited for way too long. I just noticed that when I said something about the 490, he made a 480 out of it and kept on saying that the 1080 is twice as fast. I'd laugh, but why would I?
@Tony Bamanebaeo @redrobin @Arne Hurnik @Funky7Monkey @amarks240 @VeyronEB Calm the fuck down everyone. Fanboy wars help nobody. First. You can't compare the 480 to a 1070. The latter is going for $400+, while the RX 480's MSRP has been confirmed to be $200 and $240 for the 4/8GB versions respectively. The current Pascal line-up will not outsell Polaris, at least not until a sub-$300 card is released. Most people can't afford or don't need high end GPUs, $200-300 has always been the value 'sweet spot' for gamers and it's where most of the market share is. A 1070 won't do 4K 60FPS, reference or otherwise. 1080 might manage in some games, but if you want a proper 4K card you'll have to wait for the 1080 Ti. The 480 has shown performance just short of a 390X or 980 in leaked benchmarks, run most likely on outdated drivers without Polaris support, so we might see a significant increase in performance in official benchmarks. It won't compete with Pascal, but that is obvious given it costs half as much and it's in an entirely different market segment. Price/performance is amazing. As for Vega/490 performance and pricing there's absolutely no information and anything regarding the card is speculation therefore not worth discussing.
Yes. Yes indeed. Because I asked for advice, not comedy central. Anyway, I am waiting on the release of the RX 480 to see if it's any good. If you have any other cards in mind that might work I can look into them aswell.
I have the same CPU of yours, but twice the RAM memory, with my GTX 970 i play in 1080p with maximum settings smoothly, if you want to spend a litlle amount of money i would suggest the 970 but if you have the possibility get a 980ti or a 1070/1080
Don't buy a 970. For a start the 390 is a better card for the price. And neither of them is worth buying right now since the 480 will outperform both for 2/3 of the price.
