So Nvidia has released info on a new 1000 series of graphics cards! YAY. The GTX 1080 is coming out on May 27th, and the 1070 (only like $370!) is out on June 10th! Go here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/10series/geforce-gtx-1080 to oogle the specs. I'm not gonna spoil much here, because theres lots to talk about, but I'm thinking these cards would make for a badass beam machine! What do you all think?
I got my MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G on either the 6th or 7th of May 2015... Now I want a GTX 1070 or higher... If I ever do get one, I'd want a non-blower style cooler...
Why the hell can't a company that you're not a fanboy of make equally big steps as one that you are a fanboy of?
Well it was plain english. Why cant a company that you arent a fanboy of (AMD) also make as much progress as the company you are a fanboy of (NVidia). Its quite possible a 490 is more powerful than a 1070 or 1080 when it comes out.
Maybe in the USA it will cost only $ 370 but in my country (Latvia) a GTX 960 STILL costs In US dollars: 350$ is it really worth that much?
This, Polaris is also a smaller manufacturing process at 14nm instead of the 16nm of Pascal, that alone is a considerable advantage for power usage and performance. Not to mention Pascal (although it improves on it alot) still doesn't have true asynchronous compute capabilities and so its only around 11% faster than a Fury X and a 980ti in DX12. But I'll have to wait to see how the card does in real tests (never trust manufacturers cherry picked tests cough* fury x *cough) Either way the performance per watt is one of the biggest jumps per generation in ages.
Buys GTX 1080 2 weeks later GTX1080Ti comes out, But seriously looks to be a good upgrade from a 980 and the surround screen fix will make a much better experience.
I've been a nvidia fanboy since I built my first system, but this next cycle I'm really considering going team red. Maybe nvidia will have superior products, but in general I think they are a pretty scummy company what with nvidia gameworks, g-sync and other proprietary things that they do to try and lock you into an nvidia card. I'll just have to wait and see what happens next cycle.
Why the hell am I so hyped? I tried not to, but these people really try to make the most unnecessary things in the world seem exciting. (Hello, hello, Apple!) Btw, heared about Apple making a patent on the periscope, a technology existing for 2000 years?
