Hi. I'm a new user here, but have known the game since around 2015-ish. I recently got BeamNG through a Humble Store "DRM-free" (supposedly) purchase - I will elaborate on this further - and have been very much enjoying it. However, the game has since updated to 0.35, with my current version being 0.34.2, however it is here that I ask for some assistance with updating the game.
The 0.35 install is currently in progress as I am writing this post, and on my current copy I have deactivated all of my (approximately 100) mods and deleted all custom vehicle configs beforehand. Once the download itself finishes, what should I do? Is following the installer menu enough and it will solve everything by itself, or is there anything extra that needs to be done?

    Now for an introduction thingy.
I'm someone who likes going fast, in just about any kind of vehicle, and have been like that for most of my life. I spend most of my time playing video games, especially of the sandbox and racing genres, so it's fairly obvious that BeamNG has a lot of appeal to me. I also browse, collect, and "redistribute" various internet memes. One thing to note is that I usually type in all lowercase (though I still keep punctuation and still capitalize names and whatnot) but have kept this more grammatically correct writing style for the sake of slightly easier readability.
One thing I immediately noticed when making an account is that the forums are very similar to that of another game I play, the 2D adventure-combat-platformer Terraria. Everything from the horizontal line seperator being "HR" and "/HR" in square brackets, to the names and functions of the options in the preferences menu, the post writing top bar thingy, etc etc. are all very similar to that of the Terraria Community Forums. Could it be that both use Xenforo but with the BeamNG forums simply having other modifcations done to it? (Unlike TCF though, I haven't found a thread specifically for introduction posts, so I'm kind of forced to put mine in this post. At least I've read the rules, though.)
As for the whole DRM thingy: I don't like Steam. I don't want to connect to the internet to launch my game. I don't care if it has some "offline mode" or whatever. No. Just no. I refuse to use it. This is why I am so glad that BeamNG still has a legal, Steam-less download, thank you so much, seriously. As for other games that don't have something like that, though? Yeah, you guessed it - and I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this - PIRACY!!! Including Automation. I wish it had a legal Steam-less download, but it doesn't, so I have no Steam-less legal option to get it. Sorry. It will make exporting my cars problematic, but hopefully I will be able to resolve that somehow. Aside from free stuff and BeamNG, pretty much every other game I have is also pirated, for the same reasons.
Anyways, I'll continue setting up my account later - I'll most likely just copy-paste stuff from the Terraria forums (seeing as how similar they seem to be) and remove or reformat some stuff to stay relevant to BeamNG. Hopefully the moderators or other users can help me if I did something wrong with this post - I'm too dumb to notice most of the time.

FWIW the Steam version is DRM-less in the sense that once installed/updated, you can launch the exe even when offline.

Nice to know that, but as I said, I want to avoid Steam entirely. Thanks anyways.

I decided to go ahead with the install solo. Right now I am extracting BeamNG.drive-0.35.5.0.18098.zip, not sure if I'm doing this right though. According to some quick search of mine there is an "update.exe" somewhere but I did not find it in the files of either the new or old version of the game.

EDIT: The new version detects if you have an old version, rather than vice versa as I thought. It lets you transfer and inspect your files too. Just putting this out there so nobody in the future has to encounter "thanks guys I fixed it" (no instructions or further info) style problems like with those 10 year old posts on Reddit and whatnot...
