This may already be a topic on here somewhere but I couldn't find it. Is there a way to make the damn camera stop moving on its own? This is very irritating and screws me up sometimes. And if I have a friend checking the game out for the first time they have a really difficult time with the camera controls. The game is hard enough to a newbie as is. Thanks.

Shift + C. Turns it into manual camera mode.

Pressing "C" will change your camera type, and if you go into options - gameplay - you will get a menu that lets you customize the way the camera behaves and feels.

Trouble is, that the settings are not good enough, especially for the orbit. Currently, the camera is not self centering (when going forwards and watching to the other way ---> camera won't turn back to the default position, you have to do it manually/press button), and self centering and turning to backwards-view is very slow, when going forwards --> starting to reverse --> going forwards again. That should have some sort of adjustment. Or make the camera feel as default like the camera in GTA V, that feels very good for everything.

And also, sometimes you are out of the focus of the game windows, so you are required to press twice the Mouse2-button, before it starts to turn the camera. Personally, I would request of having separate reverse view-button, wich would work instantly and that the view would be locked, until you release the button.

I like the Orbit camera. I can see your problem although it isnt a problem in my eyes. If you want to reset it faster just press NUMPAD 5. You of course can control all cameras with the NUMPAD as you probably know.

The relative camera stays in a fixed position and doesn't spin like the orbit does unless your mouse moves, you can adjust the position with the arrow keys. I'm not sure if this is the question you were asking though

I know, but that's not the case. Orbit-camera should automatically self center back to the default position, without the need to press the centering button. And the speed of that should be adjustable.

You mean the chase camera ? Chase camera is also problematic, since the camera shakes way too much and there's no way to stop it doing that.

I dont want it to center back automatically, i often drive around looking at the car from different angles. A solution to your problem could be to use the Chase camera, and be done with it, although its location around the car is fixed and doesnt allow some angle, as the Orbit does. If there's little to do for the devs after finishing Beamng, they might have time to look at these small things and add a tick box for auto center and speed for the Orbit camera/add extensive settings for all cameras.

Like you said, small tweaks or at least options to adjust them more.

When in orbit camera the camera will float around on it own. A lot of the time it floats above the car or under the car. I am just trying to see if there is a way to stop it from moving while in orbit mode. Should have been more clear about that. Sorry.

It moves accordingly to the car. If you are going backward, the camera will rotate to face back and so on

Or you could try the relative camera mode which basically works the same as the free camera except that its position is fixed where you point it as well as the distance away from the car. It's not hard to use and offers a good option for cinematic driving, first person/onboard perspectives and observing suspension suspension behaviour.
