Hello everyone, my first post here as I've literally started playing BeamNG yesterday. I'd be quite interested in using BeamNG for a couple of long-time projects and wishes - perhaps some of you could tell me if that's viable: I'd like to use publically available medium-high resolution ground+surface object scan (DTM/DSM, 1m or 0.5m resolution) plus geoinformation containing the layout of road centerlines, building footprints, forested/agricultural areas, railroads etc. In general, I'd like to semi-automatically derive all static objects and especially a drivable road; beauty and immersive world-filling is not at all the objective at that point - and I guess BeamNG has pretty good ways to add movable objects in-game as well, right? I've been playing around with this in Assetto Corsa, but have to say I hit a few problems performance-wise with such large (10x10km) maps - it looks from other maps in BeamNG like this is way better optimized for large, all-drivable terrain than AC, right? Something like this could in fact be used as a training aide/initial recce for a friend of mine who is an amateur rally driver - bit of an unfair advantage, in the sense of Mark Donohue; but not too much so - they clearly will have to recce like everyone else for where to actually safely cut corners etc. Cheers and happy new year from the austrian alps!
