amazing work, I love this! Quite unique and makes for a very enjoyable driving experience. I would love to see what's in store but as it is now, it is superb, thank you so much for this map.
Memory usage =/= FPS. Lowering the screensize only lowers the size of the frame in the buffer (to put it simple), but it does not change the textures before processing. If you want to lower texture resolution, you have a separate setting for this. Also, DLSS in Beam, what?
Spent a few hours on this map after downloading it, and I'm blown away. And I'm certainly glad I opted for a gaming laptop, as it runs pretty smoothly on what I've got (32GB RAM, 4060 graphics card, i7 processor).
I'm not exactly sure what's going on and am in the middle of troubleshooting but experiencing some issues with the map right now bottle necking on my RTX 2070 Super and eating 21 out of 32 gigs of RAM. I know the map had an emphasis on optimization from the beginning so I was shocked to see this happening. I'm gonna try clearing cache first, then running the game on safe mode with just the map installed and see what happens as I have over 300 mods installed at the moment.
don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet but for me photos taken here start corrupting after a few minutes, this is with the ingame screenshotter, IDK if Steam if effected but since it's external probably not
This map is comletely for testing purposes on all levels as alpha versions often are. But you are true: It is a bit weird to keep it in. The map is a playground for many experiments to me. If I had any doubts I wouldn't release. These are comments, so they do nothing anyway and I've got to admit that I simply didn't remember to delete the comments. This also would make the LUA processing a bit faster. Also the approval made by the BeamNG team did not mention it. Thank you for your thoughts .
Finally got to play the map a bit today and the level of detail is stunning for how large of a map it is. I also appreciate how well everything "fits" and how natural the transitions between biomes are. Looking forward to future updates as well but this is so much fun as it is right now. Played for close to an hour and only explored less than 20 percent of it. As for performance, I'm pulling a consistent 45-60 fps on medium settings. Core i5 9300h and GTX1050ti 4gb vram and 16 gb system ram.
Possible solution for all low end users : There is a very brutal but effective method to increase the FPS and reduce RAM consumption in one go. The depth of the landscape and all far objects are simply cut off: Load the map and enter the World Editor [F11]. This must at least succeed! In the Scene Tree Window select the Object named "theLevelInfo" In the Inspector Window lower the value for "visibleDistance" to let's say 1000 (meter) Press [F11] again to close the World Editor The impact is more on FPS than on RAM but both are affected. And the map has to run first, what means all things are loaded anyway but then can be set free again. Especially jerking can massively be reduced with this solution. This works on any other map too. --- Post updated --- I'm really pleased about the many reviews and especially that you're having fun. This whole thing here, with all the fuss, is just to make it super fun for everyone. At least that's my intention. But there are some who are so dissatisfied that I just can't imagine it's the map's fault. Well, the pictures are suboptimal, I admit it. But as I said, they're placeholders and maybe they're meant to show you how crazy I am. But there must be other reasons for being so massively dissatisfied. I've also noticed that the haters all live in the same time zone. Either the place is on fire there or they've all eaten something bad. --- Post updated --- Shallow and profund. Like alice in wonderland. That seems too much for some anti normalized citzens. That on a gaming platform where grotesque car crashes are the normal case. Dont't you know what a meta level is? {I'm wondering bout the word "game" in your heads} By the way, BeamNG is meant to change things. Haven't you experienced that you can change things by yourself if you like to make something better? I speek of the AI pictures haters. So without forking or updating and thus dusrupting my map progress I made an Anti AI Picture Pack for appeasement. White. Take the files from the here provided ZIP and put them into homerange.zip. This will replace the pictures, so you don't have to do any file renaming or editing. Just replace the pictures. I will not give any futher support for that.
Okay, so I think I'm no longer having any issues with the fps being low, I cleared cache, stopped using the Vulkan renderer, and removed a few mods I felt might have been exacerbating the problem. Great map so far, I've just been spending my time building out a lifted D15 step side to do some exploring in the hilly/mountainous areas just north of the Birth Island. Beautiful area :3
Just roaming around Homerange...plenty to see...liking the small Towns and Residential areas...I've moved into one of the Houses...lol
I think you are using the vulcan mode, I have seen that to on some maps, try it with the normal mode, I think this will not happen anymore.
This map is genuinely what i've been waiting for for so long. A Modern version of those grand, expansive maps that you can just easily get lost in. Even in its currently unfinished state, this is already my favorite map in years, and still has so much potential. I wish you nothing but the best in development!
absolutely outstanding map i love the diversity in the land and the details (also as a low end pc player i want to thank you for the massive optimization), the only issue i found was the AI traffic is bugged-when spawned it shows a message saying "homerange override" and sets the max speed to 360kmh and lowers the spawn rate. I dont know if this is intentional or a bug but i found it quite annoying. Otherwise, excluding the fact that its still alpha and a lot of things are unfinished, this is the new best map of beamng! (i am sorry if this pic is an eyesore i dont know to take proper pics in beamng)
Hello guys! I made small video on this map and want to share with You! I'll be glad if You Like, Subscribe, Comment or share. And also My pc is from prehistoric era, T-Rex played pacman on it, I'm starting it with crank, and I'm glad, it can run this map, so don't judge video quality. Have a nice day!
