    Example from "Passing Winds" map from late 2013 workflow.

    In old map workflow instances you used to get these "Basetex" files that had all the terrain painting slapped on them.

    Do these still get written somewhere? I really need one of these to help with creating a depth map.

    I had not noticed the change, but looks like basetex is not saved anymore. Probably better this way, since the cached texture was blurry in the distance and had some compression artifacts. Loading time doesn't seem to change much.

    You can try File > Export Terrain Heightmap in the editor, which also exports alpha maps of the terrain materials. Should be enough to make the depth map.

    When I attempt to export, it doesn't write a file. and I tried admin rights.

    When I tried exporting the heightmap, I couldn't change the folder, but the files went in Documents\BeamNG.drive.

    Another possible way to get a map could be top view camera in the editor, but it didn't work well when I tried it now.

    WTF :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:..

    When you export your terrain, if you don't edit the folder it exports to the cache directory in a weird folder setup.

    C:\Users\-YourUser-\Documents\BeamNG.drive\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\levels\-MapName-

    What a ridiculous directory.

    Finally a workaround to get a depthmap working.
