I recently booted up BeamNG 0.1 and found a version of the game from ‎May ‎2013 and I'm just absolutely blown away at how far technology - (more specifically) BeamNG has come in 11 years.

It all started with one map and one truck...

And now (with the help of BeamNG.Drive and mods) I can race a Formula 4 car around a LASER SCANNED and PBR version of Spa Francorchamps - without BeamNG - LucasBE, Kirbyguy22 - and indeed the Carbonworks F4 would never exist - but it's when it all goes wrong where BeamNG comes into its own...

Of course - these are only two mods out of tens of thousands available high-quality mods - I've currently got over 300+ sitting in my mods folder!

But this isn't a post about mods...it's about BeamNG creating the technology for this to be possible - they gave us a sandbox and we created a fully functional city.

Due to licencing restrictions and companies not wanting their logo torn to shreds - no other game allows me to tear an open wheeler or Formula 4 car in half, rip sidepods, wheels etc. off in such a realistic manner.

Fortunately enough, we've never seen an accident severe enough which has ripped a Gen 7 car in two - but the same applies to NASCAR - no other game allows it.

And then in April last year we were BLESSED with a LEG- sorry, Unbranded Toy Building Block car - I think this fascinates me more than regular content, because few can j-beam (like the cars above) - but then to model the car so it breaks off in pieces and those pieces don't bend/twist (like metal/glass) is simply fascinating.

I mean for goodness sake even the fire is the right texture!!!

Back on track, and returning to the vanilla content (if you can call it that) - I'd like to mention CrashFrontier for a moment, who's been making full-length cinematic movies/videos with custom assets, sound effects...

Movie-making aside (sound, editing, setup etc.) - my PC struggles when I try to set up a 10-car pile-up, I don't even want to begin counting how many cars (and indeed loose pieces of debris) are in this one frame alone.

At the end of the day - the game, physics and replay system are all in BeamNG.Drive - so to go from the state of BeamNG in 2013 - to a content create being able to pull this off (You MUST watch the whole video) is absolutely staggering - baffling - there aren't enough words to describe it.

    (Link To Crash Frontier's Video:

The "Beam Team" are honestly so unsung - and there's so much that goes on behind the scenes with every car and map release - just think, the artists start with a blank slate, and as a team they create a whole island like Italy - it's...yeah, there aren't words for it.

I'd like to thank the team - but there's honestly so many that don't get the recognition they deserve - the artists, asset makers, sound artists, the ones that make the actual game run, developers themselves, car designers, every pixel you see in BeamNG was made by someone - and the fact that the game can handle so much (calculating different materials bending, suspension, fully mechanical engines etc.) and not crash itself is a testament to the work the Beam Team have put into this game.

If "The Beam Team" have managed to come this far in just 11 years - imagine where we will be in another 10+ years

I would also like to touch upon the fact you can now make your own liveries, become a bus driver, do drifting, deliveries and countless other activities.

BeamNG Drive has a long and bright future ahead of it - and I'm not just talking about YouTube Shorts and TikTok "Brake Testing" videos with voiceovers!

Thank you to every single employee of the Beam Team/BeamNG Drive past and present, thank you to the modders who put so much work into their mods - some (Like the Scout and the F4) reaching Dev-level quality of content, and thank you to the players.

Because the players show BeamNG "this is what we want" and as popularity grows, funding grows, the game grows and technology along with it grows - and we get better content, mods, cars and maps.

Thank you all - especially the Beam Team for everything you've provided us/me with.
It's because of your work, BeamNG as my most-played steam game by about 4,000 hours ;)

There are indeed not enough words to enough words to express the love and gratitude we owe to the devs, and there will never be...
I cannot resist to show some love at any chance I get and it honestly just feels bad to ask them for more

Thank you, BeamNG for allowing your player base the privilege of driving the SBR4. It is my favorite car in the game. My only wishes for this car in game is that it gets the lore it deserves and we get a refresh of the car and the trims offerings. I hope that one day we get a 1:1 real life replica of it.
