Beamng massive lag

I have a decent computer that meets the system requirements for the game, however the game is incredibly laggy. When I load in, I get around 30 fps, but when I start to move my frame rate drops to around 3 or 4. If I press j, the FPS goes up to about 150 fps. The weirdest part is if I turn the steering wheel to the maximum extent left or right, my frame rate jumps up to about 150 even when I move or spin the wheels. What the @#$%!? As a side note, I used to run the non steam copy of this game on a cheap acer laptop and I got playable FPS. I would like to play the game so I would appreciate any help in sorting this out.

 

Same with me, my computer can get 60fps and when i turn full to the side it drops to 5-6
