Recently, my Steam copy of Beam started loading very slowly. Today, it spent a whopping 19 minutes loading.

It wasn't always the case. Back when I got my computer (i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD) in December 2016, the time would be measured in seconds.

It looks like this: I click the icon, have the Beam start menu, launch the game and then wait 19 minutes for the damn game to start.

    I have 72 mods active.

    Any tips?

Try opening Task Manager and looking at the RAM, Memory and Disk space, if these are maxed out this could be your problem, my recommendation is to close any non-windows processes that may be hogging the speed out of your computer.

It's been doing that since February, 19 minutes is just the latest time (and current record, I believe)

Is beamng the only thing that is slow? The entire system? Other games? Have you tried reinstalling beamng?

Well, the entire system tends to be a bit slow at times. Somethimes it's decent.

But it all depends on the game. Just Cause 3 pretty much starts on command, as do all GTA or Mafia games. Prison Architect is a bit slower.

So, then, what you should do, is open up task manager, with your system "idle", sort tasks by disk usage, screenshot, go to the performance tab, click on your hard drive, screenshot it, and show it here.

You may have to click "more details" on the bottom of the window, if you haven't already.

You may want to check if your HDD status is fine. I had similar stuff affecting a specific game, turned out my HDD was almost to die.
Also check if your Antivirus or similar is doing weird things in background.

The problem is, nothing is used to 100%.

    That is the weird thing.
Tried disabling both Windows 10's anti-malware stuff and Eset.
Either I did it wrong, or it didn't work.

Also, after about half an hour to an hour, the PC starts working like normal.
