Beamng tries to download workshop content and will not launch

Hello,

I love Beamng, and play it all the time on my desktop. However, when I try to play on my laptop, Steam forces me to download Workshop content for Beamng.

I know Beamng does not have Workshop support and never has, which is why I am confused and explains why it is forever downloading nothing. This prevents me from playing the game at all because Steam forces me to download the Workshop content.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Is it impossible for you to pause or stop the download via Steam? If not, reinstall Steam and BeamNG as well if a Steam reinstall doesn't fix it.

 

Sorry, I had forgot to mention I had reinstalled the game and deleted any game files that were left over.

When I stop the download, even cancel it, Steam opens a dialogue box that has the progress bar of the game updating.

 

I would try to close out any steam processes in task manger, shut down and restart your PC and see if that fixes the problem.

If that doesn't help I would uninstall BeamNG from steam then go into your main "SteamAPPS" folder and delete all residual BeamNG files left behind and do a total new fresh install.
