I don’t know if there’s already a thread for this, but in the files, there are many unused engine sounds. Not only are there sounds for Flat 6, V12 and V16, but also some others. For those a bit less experienced with BeamNG’s files, in iforgot (i think it was gameengine?)/art/sounds/blend/ there are .jbeam (I think) files for engine sound blending. Basically engines utilise different sounds at different RPMs to sound more realistic. There’s usually something_engine and something_exhaust, for no exhaust and exhaust respectively. These files are referenced in the engine’s .jbeam file. People have found some interesting stuff though. But as I’d feel bad for „stealing others’ findings”, I’m only going to document something I found. There’s a strange sound called „L6”, just that, no engine or exhaust variant, which reminds me of the 2JZ sound from ATG’s Engine Simulator (I will have to check if they are similar though, I’ll see on my computer soon). If anyone knows anything about these or found some other audio findings, or if something like this thread already exists that I don’t know of because I didn’t want to scroll through hundreds of threads, please let me know. --- Post updated --- Update: 1. The files are .json and are in gameengine/art/sound/blends/ 2. The „L6” sounds almost exactly like the 2JZ from Engine Simulator, except lifting the throttle doesn’t have the same feel, but that’s just how EngineSim is different to Beam’s sounds
The "L6" file has been in the game for many years, it was the default I6 sound back before the sound update in 2019. And yes a thread for this exists here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/list...omplete-expanding-would-be-appreciated.79136/
A lot of the engine sounds are just older, less refined samples which were used a while back (from memory, the "L6" sound was on the hopper, moonhawk/barstow, legran, and semi). in other cases, like the F6, V12, old V10, and V16, because they specifically need unmuffled samples to do in-game audio exhaust filtering, and there aren't many unmuffled engine sound samples out there, the devs will buy anything they can find, and in the case of a lot of the samples, they're the same ones which automation uses (even though automation export cars separately export their own custom sounds).
Huh. Yeah, I guess I didn’t consider them to be from older versions. I saw SourDisc’s video where he looked through a few of them, such as I3_3 or I4_4, which seem to currently not be used by any vanilla car, and that’s why I brought this up.
I6D_3 (or something like that) is also unused, with some more refinement it could be an awesome sound for a new diesel I6.
I’m pretty sure that as long as you keep it under 3000 RPM, it sounds pretty good, but yeah. From my knowledge there’s a lot of I6 Diesel sounds that are unused, but I don’t know what they’re called internaty other than I6D_3 --- Post updated --- Well, whatever some of these will be used for, I’m going to use them for my mod(s) because they sound original.
I don’t think so, unless the devs have a hiding place for more sounds (which I don’t think they so). The only other diesel I6 sounds are I6D and I6D_2, both are used in either the ETK diesels or the T-Series/Wentward (funnily enough the latter makes no sense because the 3D model for the Wentward engine is a 4 cylinder but it’s got an I6 sound and everyone assumes it’s an I6).
Well, whatever some of these will be used for, I’m going to use them for my mods, so I guess it’ huh didnt know about the Wentward fact I mean the Pigeon has a 550cc engine that is internaty referred to as a 660cc engine half of the time, but I didnt know some go that much
That’s possible, but having 4 equally spaced and equally sized ports on either side of the head seems like a very odd choice for an inline 6.
There are two engine sounds that are not usable yet, a V6 and a V8. as the new minivan will most likely come with a v6 engine, this new sound can be used, and the other i3 sound, could mean some new small car that uses this sound, maybe (probably not, but who knows) it can be used in some Gambler 500 configuration
Huh neat, do you know the names of these internally? I could maybe check them out. But yeah, the Soliad Lensdale will propably have a V6 and maybe a V8 (as it is american). Also I may have messed up that name slightly but I think it was called the Lensdale
Just checked about the minivan, looking at the leak picture, it actually says „Lansdale” so minor mistake on the spelling.
V6 and V8 are called "V6_mktest" and "V8_mktest", I saw some people saying that "mktest" means something about the devs test sounds, they still can't be "played" in the game, but maybe we can get them in the new minivan (hopefully)
Ohh, those ones! Yeah i dunno what they’re about. Maybe they’re some new sounds, maybe they’re for testing.
