Before the game is released.

Not a question of when your releasing it, but before you release it, do you plan on letting people know ahead of time? Or surprise the hell out of us with the release of the demo or game download/purchase?

 

I would love to be surprised with a random release. Also, if they let us know in advance when they will release it, and something in the game gets screwed up before they can, we will get overrun by people complaining that it hasn't been released.

 

I personally think a Random release would be great It'd be a burst of energy and everyone would be more excited when its released

They should certainly release it randomly, without warning us. It would be a huge surprise for everyone, and as someone above me said, if there was a delay, we would get overrun by people complaining about it.

 

I agree.
If the game is released on a whim, they will be absolutely sure that they are ready. And like he said, if the date gets pushed back, some people will be such assholes about it. But some people don't realize the complexity of the job at hand. Things can mess up. If you ask me, these 4 men/ or women are brilliant.

I was writing my reply and didn't notice that you wrote just about the same thing.

 

I'm pretty sure they're all men.

 

I think option 2. That way the devs can produce, and code on their time, so they don't feel rushed.

 

I would love a surprise release, but bury it somewhere in the forums for a day or two (maybe a single hyperlinked letter in a post?) to build post-hype until a majority of the users have figured out where it is before making an "official" download page.

Whether whoever notice it is too busy playing the game to inform others, or if we get a flood of topics named "It's Released!!" with a link

 

It would be cooler if they hid the link under a more boring title. See how many people actually take time to investigate certain threads or if they are just looking for information on how long it will take to be out. They will be too busy looking for something that says "released" to look for a thread that is in the general off topic saying "Wednesday, June 12th" with the link.

 

Personally, I look at each single thread created. It wouldn't be a surprise to me, lol.

 

If they really felt dastardly they would edit an early post with the link on a period. But I don't think they're that mean right... right, guys?

It would be interesting to just go in the screenshots thread after you find the link to the download page and just type,"The game has been released" and just watch everyone freak out.
