Better racing (leaderboards and ghosts/UI)

    Hi guys, I've enjoyed playing beamNG for a while, I wanted to share some ideas on how to better the racing experience/time trials in the game. I am not a game dev so I'll try to share what I consider "easy" to do, I understand there is certain limitations to the game engine.

    LEADERBOARDS
    I think this his the main change that could make a whole ton of players come and stay in the game. In the actual state of the beta (.26) you have only one leaderboard all categories AND I cannot see which car I used for each time. Another complaint would be that my "vs previous lap" doesn't work when I reload the race, only shows when you're doing a multilaps race, kind of a shame not to know where you are compare to your best time from the get go.

    My suggestion would be to create one leaderboard category for each of your default cars (Cherrier, Cincinatti...) and a leaderboard for modded content. Could be nice to have leaderboards for rain and night too.

    GHOSTS
    Still not a game dev, but implementing ghosts to beamNG trials fro gold, silver and bronze would push you to better yourself and also teach you some new lines or tricks. Trackmania´s system of copying the inputs of a player and recreating them allows for the community to check for cheats and overall makes the game much more competitive.

    UI
    The UI for me it's the biggest down for me, not because it is laggym but more because of it's unnecesarry intricacy. Why can't I see the leaderboard until I finished the race? Why are scenarios, campaings and time trials different? Why is there a pause button that only freezes time? Why when I go to the map I also go the menu?
    And there's a lot a little details that deteriorates the overall experience.

    My suggestion is to put only three main buttons Freeroam/Trials/Campaign.
    So in trials you would have scenarios, bus routes and time trials, all of these could have leaderboards (differents rules if overhaul, bus routes etc...) but in all of these you could compete in.

    Menu/Map/Pause could be the same button.

    We need a one button restart and a one button last checkpoint. Right now it´s a two button restart because you have to have to click on the "Start" button after you reload, doesn't seem like much, but in a highly punishing game like BeamNG you restart a lot.



    Thanks for reading, I hope to bring some new perspective. I really think this game could grow with little effort in the racing community and that would better the overall content. Maybe I'll make another thread sharing some ideas for the campaign mode. Gotta go rallying, cheers!
