    Hello together,

I am currently trying to solve a problem. All interior button icons had a black background by default. I've already tried removing it and saving the texture as BC3 with a transparent background. Unfortunately, the background only gets brighter and you can't see anything anymore. However, the .dds is correct and also previewed as transparent. Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this?

    thanks in advance ;)

You need to add an opacity map, the game doesn't support transparent stuff without it

Thanks for your reply. By opacity map do you mean the alpha layer in the dds?
I watched a tutorial on this and added it to my .dds. It previews correctly on the Nvidia DDS converter, however when I bring it into the game I still have the black backgrounds.
Unfortunately, I didn't find a real BeamNG tutorial on how to create such textures and add the appropriate parameters in the material file. Do you know if there is a guide on here somewhere?

It can't be that hard, I'm sure.

You are doing it all wrong. Don't convert textures to dds manually, use the texture cooker. It's extremely easy and well documented, just read the docs on it. There are just so many sub-formats of dds and you never know which ones will work in BeamNG and which not. Whatever source you found that BeamNG uses BC3 is most likely outdated, as far as I know it uses its own custom formats.
Also try not to use tutorials. They become outdated way too fast to be usable.
As for opacity map, just google what it is, it has nothing to do with alpha layers.
