"Broken Truck" scenario too easy?

I've decided to return to playing through some of my favorite scenarios and I've noticed that the Broken Truck scenario (the one with the disintegrating cement truck T-series) is much easier than I remember it being. Like, the parts hardly fall off. Did something happen since the scenario was first released?

Was it, sometime in the game development, rebalanced to be easier?

Did the truck's performance/handling/center of gravity/game's handling model improve to such a point that...

...maintaining the minimum speed required to prevent the parts falling off is much easier? (Oh yes, the game does not tell you this anywhere other than the game files, but this *is* a Speed-esque scenario. Maintain a sufficient speed and the truck will not shed parts.)

Are my memories of the scenario's difficulty just wrong? What's going on?
