hi guys, this might have been mentioned somewhere before but this game has gone from nothing more then a tech demo to a game you can actually play in over 3 years - and the camera still clips through the terrain. i think its time to fix this. it takes away from the experience and reminds you every few seconds that you are playing a game - taking away from the immersion. its a small thing but it has a great impact in my opinon. thanks for reading this, im out
Having worked with the camera lua, I can say that it would require reworking the entire camera system. The camera lua doesn't have access to terrain data. While I think it would be great in the distant future, there are much higher priority tasks for the developers to work on.
well, sounds like its more complicated than i thought.. but in the last year or so i feel like the answer to every complaint has been exactly that - there are higher priority tasks... while i agree that things like sound and reduction of "cars gettings stuck into each other" are more important i believe that things like fixing the camera would make a large impact. stuff like this make the game feel less "alpha - like" and i think that after 3 years this is not too much to ask for. also the person taking care of sound for example is not the same person that would work on the camera - so i do not believe that the beamng team can only work on one or two tasks at once. sorry if this sounds like a rant im just a little annoyed that almost every comlaint about the game is put off as "not important". remember the suspension sounds for example - a small thing that nobody even expected to come but the impact it made was (in my opinion) pretty big. have a nice day everyone
If they ever implement camera collision, I really hope that there's still an option to disable it, because it's nice to be able to take a look at your car from any angle at any point. Camera collision can also feel really clumsy in tighter spaces, I'm sure that anyone who's tried the paint booth in the new SLRR will know what I mean. I agree that it should be an option, though, the world would feel a lot more... solid(?) that way.
Are you minimizing all the work that has been spent on the entire game just because the camera? As said above, the camera problem needs some more time as the camera has no actual knowledge that it should collide with the terrain. That will come eventually, but that should not nullify all the effort and work that has been put into the game so far Just have a look at all the changelogs: http://blog.beamng.com/blog/
that is not what i meant. ive owned the game since the day it was released on this website. i wanted to say that this game has come a very long way and has been improved in many ways while a basic feature was still missing. quite the opposite of what you seem to have understood. anyways, i really like what the game has become its just that i would like it to have a more finished feel to it. didnt mean to offend anyone. bye
Woops, I indeed misread your post. Sorry, my bad Camera not going through terrain is in our ToDo list and will happen sooner or later
I agree m8! U should get a profile pic tho!!! You joined in 2013 and still dont have one. Sorry off topic. But all other great games dont have camera clipping, it would make it so much better, or at least a mode you can turn on and off.
yeah no worries - after reading my original post again it really is pretty easy to misunderstand. english is not my mother tongue so maybe i didnt express it clearly. anyways, its nice to hear that its on your to-do list
