Can i Use a 3D model from someone else?

So if i were to make a car would i be allowed to release it giving credit to the 3d model owner and ask permission, or is it not allowed, im thinking of making an old bentley S2

 

So far forum rules have been that it just needs crediting and then the original creator can request its removal (as has already happened with the Lotus mod from Assetto Corsa).

However it is best ettiquette to ask permission of the model author.
