Hello. I'm new. I just ought the game so when I try to open it, BeamNG Launcher says "Executable not found. BeamNG.drive.x86.exe" I really want to play this game, how do I fix this?

    Go here on your computer:
    C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive

Look for a file called: update.exe

Click on that and see what happens.

If it's not there, I would uninstall and reinstall as Admin and
    post back here.

**if you can't see the AppData folder: click Windows Explorer, click Organize
in the upper left of the window, Folder and Search options, click the View tab,
click the button "Show hidden files, folders, and drives", click Apply, then Ok.

The only folder in AppData is Microsoft. (I have windows 8.1 if that helps)

It's the same for Windows 7.

    Try this:
In file explorer go to the view tab and select "hidden items".
Click the Local folder instead of Local Allow.

Here's an updated version for Windows 8.1 to find the folder options if you didn't try that yet:

**Make sure you can see hidden files and folders: click Windows Explorer, click
View in the upper left of the window, then click Options at the top far right,
Change Folder and Search options, click the View tab, click the button "Show hidden files,
folders, and drives", click Apply, then Ok.

I run windows 8.1, there are 3 folders in AppData and none are hidden, roaming, local and Microsoft. In the public user the same holds true. If the folders are missing then there is something wrong with your install.

Hold the windows key and R to open the "run" dialog. Then type without the quote marks "%APPDATA%\..\Local" and hit enter. Should open you straight to your appdata/local folder regardless of any files being hidden or not. If it still cannot open it then there is something wrong with your installation of windows or you are on a restricted windows account of some sort. To rectify this you can try installing the game from scratch but change the install path to be your documents or something instead of the default setting.

or, you should press the windows key + x and select search, then a green screen shows up, go into the top right corner, and see if there is a blank white bar, type this to the bar: Beam. and a file called Open Folder should show up, it it doesnt, i dont know what to do :/

rename "update.exe.old" to "update.exe" (without quotes, and if windows warns you that changing file extensions can cause programs to become unoperable, just ignore it, it will work fine)

Any more help? I don't want this to be a wasted $15. It isn't too much, but it stinks that I was so excited to get it, and then I do, and I can't play it. I don't want to bother the devs, as they are most likely busy, but I may have to email them.

Whenever running the updater make sure that anti virus and firewall are off and in some cases you may have to run it as admin (run as administrator is in the right click menu)

Ok so I ran it as admin and I got the same thing as before but I couldn't find how to disable the Antivirus or firewall. I use the stock windows defender that comes with Windows 8.
(I am so so bad with anything electronic/computer related.)

    ---update---
Sorry I just Googled it and apparently it's common knowledge how to make an exception in the Windows Firewall. I'll try it as soon as I get a chance. Stupid firewall:banghead:

I just made a firewall exception for both the updater and the launcher and it still doesn't work.:mad:AARRGG!:mad: Can't you see I really want to play this game?
