can't paint trees or grass

    Problem #1-
    I remember with the old editor I could "paint" on grass and 3D grass would just appear, but how it just changes the colour of the ground. Has the placement for 3D grass changed? Or is this bugged?

    Problem #2-
    Also I've tried making a few maps (all from scratch) and I never get the red circle for painting trees (in the included image, my mouse is in the middle of the screen over where I painted some grass material). I can luckily place the trees individually, but that is cumbersome. How do I fix this too?

    I have a lot of grass materials that are a grid of images, do you know how to separate those images. As in crop the selected material, or move it around at all?

    In the inspector with the GroundCover selected in the SceneTree, go to the Material ... button and select a material that is not one with multiple images on the same picture. You would then have to save level, exit game completely, reload level to see new textures take effect. As far as I know only one groundcover can have a texture map, but it can load multiple mesh.DAE files for models (that have their own textures already). I am pretty sure, but not 100%. This is something I ran into and through trial and error figured out.
    This is after saving and reloading after picking a new texture.

    bugger, it only has multiple image options, so now I have to figure out how to add grass setups from elsewhere

    okay, I figured out how to get just 1 type of grass, you play with "billboardUVs" under "types" dropdown in the inspector :D currently 2.000,2.0,000.500,0.500 is working for me. Feel free to play :)

    This new level acting stupid, loading my other level, looks like I have 4 ground plains, each with a different texture. The only one using a seperate mesh is using the games grass texture, and I added the mesh on type 0 layer upload_2021-7-25_18-57-40.png
    And like another layer I did not fool with the mesh and just used another texture

    And just told each layer what terrain paint to grow on

    I kept getting weird shadow flickering when I tried to add a game mesh to work with my grasses. Why I ended up just using one of the games for the grass filler/topper mesh. Which you can see in the image on the dark green grass. upload_2021-7-25_19-0-53.png
    and lastly here you can see the terrain paints, that the layers are pointing too. I hope it helps, its pretty frustrating when I was working with it, and why I am trying to help. I hit Alt-F4 many times in frustration :)

    sorry I have a hard time reading at the best of times (I'm dyslexic), I can't understand what you're saying. If you reformat it at least, I should be able to give it a better try :)

    I just realized what you figured out that I never did, instead of just loading a image that does not have many images on it, you can specify the area of the image where you want that particular billboard to draw. Thanks, that helped me !
    I never in all this time messed with that billboard UV setting.

    No idea how the game devs put bushes and rocks into the terrain paints. I don't see where there are any models loaded on their ground covers. I am missing something somewhere, if I figure it out I will reply back.
