The extremely popular gaming YouTuber (best known for his Minecraft content), CaptainSparklez, just uploaded a video of himself playing the game. He has a whopping 8.2 million subscribers. This is definitely good for the game's exposure, although he did use unofficial mods from the "Russian" sites that we all know about. He also didn't put the name of the game in the video title, and he didn't directly link it in the description. Just thought I'd post this here since we might get some new forum members from it. Share your opinions below!
Kind of annoying when a popular You-Tuber doesn't properly show off this game by using Russian mods.. AND DOESN'T ADD TITTLE/LINK! ....just wow....
OH COME ON JUST COME ON, IS IT REALLY SO FREAKING HARD TO USE VEHICLES FROM THIS FORUM OR OFFICIAL VEHICLES UGH stupid youtubers (no offence to ones who actually care about this kind of stuff (for example, whybeare))
I think that we can't really blame new people from using these "russian mods". The truth is that, new people is probably just doing a google search for 'beamng mods' or some similar terms, and, unfortunately enough, a BeamNg official website doesn't appear until the 4th result. We maybe can't expect people to go to the forums to find new content. People that are playing the game for the first time, will probably just google for mods instead, and google points to the wrong websites . And that's maybe what happens with many new people. I don't think there's an easy way to do this as a company, but a google search for 'beamng mods' should definitely bring the official website as a first result, otherwise we can't expect people to only use mods found on the forums. And I know that mods are on the 'private part' of the forums, which don't show up on google, but any other BeamNg official website (maybe a page describing the possibilities of additional content found on the forums) should be present first. Or maybe including some kind of text in the main menu of the game stating something like 'Download additional user-made content from: *forum link*' Just my random thought. I can easily be wrong, as I have never thought about that from an external perspective, I'm open to discuss . (and I'm referring to people that have actually bought the game, letting alone other people...) And yeah, not putting the name of the game in the title or a link is another thing...
well, while we can't take down the sites, i do believe google lets people send in takedown requests to get sites removed from search results but it's still aggravating, they should at least use official vehicles first or say that the vehicle their using is a mod so comments like the one i screenshotted hopefully don't show up as much
Maybe he'll find this thread. He's usually pretty good about changing stuff once he realizes the game community doesn't agree with him. Seen it a few times. Ah well.
That would be great. I definitely think he's better than Speirs, who basically shouted at everyone in broken grammar when he found a thread about him on the forums.
I agree, should have stated which ones were official vehicles and which ones were 'mods', thus people wouldn't be rating a game based on user badly made modifications. Also, speaking of stupid comments, this can also be found:
This seriously upsets me. Jordan is actually a pretty cool guy but he should have researched more before doing this. It's really not that hard to use the official content/mods. This will surely bring a ton of publicity to the game but thanks to his choice of mods, the publicity may not be good. And the devs are not to thank for that, it's these stupid Russian modders. I really hope this can get sorted out if it becomes a big deal. I'm actually gonna attempt to send him this thread on Twitter. If this gets enough attention he may reply. He usually seems to be good at making announcements like that if he messes up. We'll see what happens. Try to do the same if you get a chance.
I'll bet he doesn't want to release the 2nd name he uses on forums. He's probably rather undercover to prevent himself from being swamped.
Advertising BeamNG.Drive through the use of low-quality mods is one of the worst thing. Imagine all the people checking this game just for "OMG I WANT TO CRASH FERRARIS" and that will go increase the user-base of those 3rd party shitsites.
Yep. I can just imagine one of his typical 11-year-old viewers talking to his friends. "Hey, check out this lambo, it's rly fast!" That's my main concern with all of this.
If he had only used the official mods and played the game the right way, we would be getting some really god publicity right now. But as mentioned, this is only gonna bring 2 things. Hate, and 12 year olds. EDIT- If by chance he actually does find this, I just realized he won't be able to view the thread. It's in the BeamNG section, and if he decided to use the Russian mods anyways then I kinda doubt he actually made a forum account.
i also posted a comment on the video: hopefully he see's all the comments telling him about the horrible quality of the mods
I've also left a handful of comments about it. I hope he notices the issue here. It's kinda hard not to notice if you just skim through the top comments. This looks promising lol
