thats a lot of gear. i want to make a video but i want to do it right. id rather a gopro mounted to the cluster than holding the wheel and phone at the same time. i dont know for sure but i think ill get you guys up to 130 or so by shear virtue of 1500 pounds not being worth a 30hp advantage. is the cam really hard to get to on those engines? i feel like you could make close to 350hp all motor.
I'm electronically limited to 119 to prevent the driveshaft from exploding. I'm assuming that's the top of 3rd. The 3.27 police vics are limited to the mid-130s. All civilian panthers are limited around 112 to prevent driveshaft explosion. AFAIK they 3.27 interceptors don't really have much left in them once they reach the limiter. You could maybe see 140 or 145 on a really good day. Nah, I don't feel like messing with tunes or anything like that. The 4.6 is sohc so they're pretty easy to get to, all things considered. You'd have to do quite a bit of work to get up to 350hp. The bottom end would probably take issue with 350hp as well. Dunno exactly. Bullshit.
that whole driveshaft thing is scary. ill eat my words and potato's if you post a video of that van hitting 60 in 7 seconds.
I know that the Corolla of Doom is freaking SLOW! I''l record a 0-60 tomorrow. Everyone ready for a buzzbox?
I think you should have the aluminum drive shaft which is pretty much good for just about anything a Vic could ever hope to do. I have seen that the stock bottom end is good for 400hp boosted. I don't know how much of the difference the boost would make compared to N/A but I also don't know how you could get that high with out some sort of boost anyways.
i have this idea in my head that the police package grand marshal is nowhere near as fast as a real p71 is. i mean the GM is an absolute dog.
I wouldn't say the P71 is fast. It's uhh...quick. For what it is. Maybe. The Grand Marshall seems to exaggerate the boatyness though.
ill post a 0-60 eventually. Im kinda curious. Oddly enough, the 96' Marquis i had, with only 195 ish hp, did 0-60 in about 8 seconds, and my vi definitely feels and sounds quicker. I know it isnt under 7, but i wouldn't be surprised to see 7.5 ish. I will say, cherry bombs sound great on these cars. Guy who had it before me just had them put on. Quiet at low rpms, but midway up the range they really rumble.
That's because the 1996 was about 400lbs lighter than your new Vic. Your 1996 is actually rated the same 0-60 as my car was stock, 9.1 seconds. 4150lbs, 224hp vs 3750lbs, 190hp.
I can beat that, my old Opel Corsa C with the 1.0 engine, a whopping 17 seconds was best I timed at with a slight gradient, by which point you are nearly approaching the top end of 3rd gear already, it was quite short gearing/low rev limit. My Focus I recorded 10.5 on a stopwatch I was wielding while driving so not most accurate, factory its rated 10.3. Thats screaming the top off of 2nd, revving around 6.5k I think, limiter is set at 7. So much for euro 4 bangers being total slouches, its not really far off vic territory. 113bhp new, probably less now.
ill figure out how to rig a camera phone to my dash with some makeshift clamp and take a video this weekend. how did you all make yours? id like to be in the low 6 second range. if i drop the clutch at 6k and wind it out i have a chance.
Never tried videoing it, probably best not to do it like this (and this is not how to get to 60 quick XD, this was more to prove to someone that zero throttle is needed to make a car move)
Nissan Micra k11 1.0 (54hp 79Nm) driver + almost empty fuel tank --> 18s driver + four passengers + full fuel tank --> 60s :|
I used the highways in the corsa, have to take advantage that 99% of onramps in the UK have a downhill gradient to help you upto merging speeds.
