So, this is an thread of cars you personally have an grudge with, or despise. Here's an example from me...

Who the bloody hell thought this design would help this sell? First of all, this is even uglier than the Prius IV. Not kidding, the rear and front is equally horrible, and the middle is the only tolerable part of the design. Second, why would Americans want an hydrogen car that looks like that? I know they do sell it in the US, but it seems like the Northeast isn't taking much of them, since I see none anywhere I go to. Lastly, it's an very boring vehicle, which mirrored the Prius IV. When you have to be on par on an car like the 2016 Prius, you already know you have an issue.

Atleast that looks better than the Mirai. Sure, the rear is one of the stupidest looks I ever seen, but that doesn't compare to the dead-looking hydrogen-version Prime design the Mirai encases.

Who the heck designed this nightmare. I know it was Fiat, but... I fortunately don't see these where I live.

I never see them, since I don't live in Europe, and it's illegal to import that car yet in the US. (1993 is the maximum limit this year, the Multipla was 5 years later than 1993.)

As ugly as it is, I must give the Multipla props, as it was one of the most innovative designs of its time. I don't think Fiat really cared about what the car looked like, until they face lifted it; (They're also fairly common in UK)

Cars that would be forgotten for how insignificant they actually were, but gained some cult status because they were featured in movies for 12 years olds or anime.

Also most german and american cars.

I agree with the first part of your message, but the second makes me violently angry. Honestly, there aren't a lot of Japanese cars I do like. It's not that I hate the cars themselves, I just don't like how undeservedly popular they are. The Skyline is a perfect example here - you know no one would care if it was a Ford or a Renault, but since it's Japanese, everyone loves it. "You know the Sierra Cosworth is 100% legal and the Escort Cosworths are starting to bec-OH LOOK A SKYLINE! OK, well, the last of the MkIII Ford Capris became legal last ye-AE86 TOFU DELIVERY DRIFT BATTLE TOGUE KEIICHI TSUCHIYA! Uh, you know almost all the Delta Integral-SKYLINE SKYLINE SKYLINE SKYLINE SKYYYYYYLIIIIIIIIIIINE!"

I've said this many, many times before, but it just drives me nuts the way people go gaga over Japanese cars and Japan in general.

I really dislike the Toyota Prius, especially the second-generation model. This is the official car of pious leftism, accept no substitues, and it's also one of the most boring cars ever built. And on top of that, some of the battery suppliers apparently operate in China, who we all know has utterly spotless environmental and human-rights records.

The Volkswagen up! is on my list too. From the boxy short-tall-narrow styling & form factor (i.e. the exact opposite of what looks good) to the cutesy all-lowercase name (and yes, the exclamation point is a part of the name), I can find almost nothing to like about this car.

In fact, why not just say I hate the entire modern breed of short-tall-narrow subcompact cars and be done with it. I find it utterly mystifying that the AMC Gremlin was mocked and hated when it came out, but now even uglier cars of the same basic body style are widely embraced. Please, every manufacturer, quit selling this ugly garbage in the US!

I would put the Chevy Cruze on my list as well. This car simultaneously represents (nearly) everything wrong with modern car design and exposes everything wrong with modern car culture. The styling is goofy, the engine is an undersized eco-turbo (and puts out less power than any Cobalt, even the early base models), the more powerful diesel (i.e. filthmobile) is actually slower because it's so heavy, the weight of 3000+lb is lip-flappingly insane for an FF compact car, and yet you have car guys calling it an "upgrade" over the Cobalt because it has a better interior. Are you serious homeboy?

Finally, it's not any specific car, but it really drives me nuts the way some car people seem ready to just give up and let car culture die. Every time I see someone say that because car people are a minority, ordinary cars can or even should be boring or over-optimized (see: Ford EcoBoost I3 with its cylinder head and exhaust manifold cast in one piece), it just makes me rage.

    Any reasons?

    It's a good car.

I wasn't going to buy an Ecoboost anyway, so you might start raging now.

Also, the Escort and Sierra failed to gather the tuning scene that made the Skyline well-known, and the Capri is like an European Toronado or Monte Carlo - it's not a bad car, but hardly a performance machine. Better known for its rather chavvy nth owners.

    You want the reason?
Tesla Model 3 is concluded. Gaps between doors are enormous. Interior is awful; everything is controlled by one screen. And front end - awful. I like to call this car "The Slendercar" because front end, which don't have grille.
Model X is also ugly, ugliest car in last 10 year. It has these stupid gullwing doors, which aren't intended for an SUV, but for sports cars.

I hate these cars also, because Elon Musk attitude. He thinks he created company that can match BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz. That's insane. Both of these 3 companies exist over 50 years, they achieved certain level of quality and respect among customers and owners. Elon Musk once said he wanted to 'bury' the BMW 3-Series with Model 3. That, fortunately, isn't going to happen, because Tesla will go bankrupt in the near future.

Pretty sure Tesla is neither the only company with bad build quality, nor the only one with a shooting-for-the-moon CEO.
(Iacocca-era Chrysler and Stempel-era GM come to mind)

Also, what's non-SUV in gullwing doors?

He gets deeply offended if you dare suggest that modern, European, or economical cars of any form are actually good.

BMW vs Tesla, now that's a fair fight in terms of achieving crappier quality.
Well, not all people like gargantuan faux-offroad microbuses (that's only about the first). And both of them are ugly.
Also, what's the difference between a Tesla and a Yugo?
In a Yugo, you still can get the heater to work after the car spent a night in the cold.

In a Tesla, you don't feel sentenced to driving it.

As do I. I was about to have nearly the same rant, only probably more directed at the wishy-washy, I-have-no-fun-at-work-and-there-is-a-deadline-coming-up-so-I'll-just-go-with-what-everybody-else-is-doing-sad-middle-ground crossovers. I despise those. Maybe I'm just an out of touch old codger, but I miss when cars were coach-built and had time and effort put in. And when they were made of metal. I miss the times when cars were works of art, and people had fun designing them. Oh well. :(

Oh, and if anyone wants to rebut this, save your keyboard a few keystrokes and leave the old man to his ravings.

The difference is you at least have the awareness to acknowledge it. Too often you'll see people say "no I don't hate those cars, I just..." and proceed to reiterate why they hate those cars.

I'm just of the opinion that however fun or boring, there's no such thing as a "bad" car, just cars designed for different purposes. My car is a small VW with a puny 3 cylinder 1.2 engine. By all means it's a slow and boring car, but it's reliable as hell, can still easily reach motorway speeds, and it's perfect at what it's designed for. As a supercar, it's a bad car, but as a commuter car, it's brilliant.

The only cases where a car truly is bad are those with fatal flaws (i.e. Pinto) or something with hilariously bad failure rates.
