Just had another idea and couldn't find anyone suggest it like this before, so here it is. I think it would be nice if exhaust systems could be customized to a further degree. First of all the implementation of catalytic converters, simulating their affect on engine performance, and segmentation of exhaust systems. Choosing downpipes several options for catalytic converters middle pipes mufflers exhaust tips routing options ...? Specialized exhaust tuning is a part of building a vehicle just as much as setting up your engine and I think it would fit really well into the game, especially given how many options we get for most other technical departments essential for us to build fun cars. The scope of this idea might be more suitable for a mod project rather than an official update to the game. Any feedback?
Honestly im pretty happy with how they are now. With the Vivace the exhaust modeling is already miles ahead what it was before. What you say isn't bad but it would require small torque curve customizations with each part, sound rework, which isn't very easy, and honestly it seems like a bit too much work for a feature too small.
We already have different exhaust tips and routing options for some vehicles. The rest is nice in theory but what are the ingame benefits? It is hard to imagine an ingame benefit for different catalytic converters. Realistically people are only interested in the performance differences which are already perfectly served in the Vivace for example by Exhaust - Factory standard - street legal but least power. Sport Exhaust - Slightly more power, street legal. Comes from the factory stock for some configurations. Tuned Exhaust - Taking matters into your own hands while still maintaining being street legal. Race Exhaust - Emission control? what emission control? Highest performance but not street legal anymore.
