Hi Everyone. I had an idea for modding, and I have seen people do it before. I would like to figure out how to make parts different colors. To elaborate, I have a bumper that comes in Chrome, and Body Colored (for the D-Series), I wanna make a black version. Does anybody know how? I would also like to make a chrome intake manifold for the Gavril V8. It would make it look better IMO. Does anyone know what to do? Thank you.

You can make a separate model that uses a new material, or is remapped to a different one. For example, a new bumper called bumper_f_bcolor that is a copy of the original but uses the material the main body of the vehicle does, or intake_v8_chrome that uses a new custom material specific to that part.

Ok, I understand fully. I was somewhat expecting something like that. Now, I ask, where can I find these materials, like the black used on the pickup bumpers, and chrome, like on the Barstow's intake manifolds? Perhaps you could show me like last time? You seem to have very detailed explanations.

You can see the specific material a part is using in this window when the part is selected

and also a list of all materials currently in the scene by clicking this drop down
    mater2.png

As for seeing what that material looks like, you have to find out what texture is assigned to it in-game. For example, the Barstow material in blender "v8_classic" is called "v8_classic" (sometimes these names can differ, bad example here lol) in game and utilizes the texture "v8_classic_(type).(type).png" located in "vehicles\common\engines\v8_classic\", so you would have to apply that texture to that material in blender in order to see what it actually looks like. Also, for some reason Blender doesn't like .dds textures from beam so you will have to turn them into .pngs first or else it'll just show as pink. Some materials and their associated textures will be harder to find than others, but usually pulling up the world editor's material editor can help you find the stuff you are looking for.

No problem! Let me know if any of that is confusing or didn't actually answer your question, I'm a bit tired right now lol
